Novak Djokovic is the clear world No 1 despite not competing last week and he is all but guaranteed to be the top seed at the French Open.
By exiting in the semi-finals in Barcelona, Rafael Nadal missed out on the chance to close the gap on Djokovic and dropped points to 7,765 points.
But the Spaniard should still wrap up the second seeding in Roland Garros with strong weeks at the upcoming Madrid and Rome Masters.
Alexander Zverev remains the world No 3 but his position is under threat from Roger Federer.
Zverev has had early exits at the Monte Carlo Masters and Barcelona and needs a good week at the ATP 250 BMW Open event to prevent Federer from overtaking him ahead of next week’s Madrid Masters.
Federer will make his first appearance of the clay court season in Madrid and will have the chance to cement a crucial top-four seeding ahead of the French Open.
But world No 5 Dominic Thiem is the man in form going into Madrid after winning the Barcelona Open and will be aiming to overtake Zverev and Federer.
The only move in the top 10 was made by Juan Martin del Potro, who hasn’t played since in the Delray Beach Open in February.
Del Potro is now eighth after Stefanos Tsitsipas dropped two places to tenth after losing in the third round of Barcelona.
Elsewhere, Canadian starlet Felix Auger-Aliassime is now ranked 30th after another good week.
Hungarian Open champion Matteo Berrettini moves from 55 to 32 after beating Filip Krajinovic in the final.
Krajinovic and Roberto Carballes Baena are both in the top 100 after deep runs at the Hungarian Open and Barcelona Open respectively.
