Following the announcement by Janikowski is hang up his cleats after 19 seasons in the NFL, Brady is now the only remaining active player from the 2000 NFL Draft.
However, Brady didn’t make many headlines at the turn of the millennium as he was the 199th pick in the draft.
Brady went on to show it doesn’t matter where you go in the draft but what you do on the field as the 41-year-old is considered to be the greatest NFL quarterback to have ever played the game.
Despite going in the 6th Round in the draft he has won six Lombardi trophies, has four Super Bowl MVP awards, is a three-time NFL MVP and a 14-time Pro Bowler.
And in some regards it is fitting Brady is the only one left following the retirement of another NFL legend.
Janikowski, who played for the Oakland Raiders and the Seattle Seahawks, holds the record for field goals of 50 yards or longer with an impressive tally of 58.
He spent the first 18 years of his career with the Raiders before playing last season with the Seahawks.
Janikowski has made more money in his career than any other kicker in NFL history and according to Spotrac he made $53.29million over the course of his career.
He left the Raiders as their all-time leading scorer, with 1,799 points and took a one-year deal with the Seahawks worth $2.015m.
However, the kicker, nicknamed Seabass, felt his body could no longer take the demands of playing in the NFL any longer.
“It was a good run,” he said to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
“I still think of the Super Bowl — it still hurts.”
Janikowski was referring to the Raiders 48-21 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII in 2002.
He once tied the NFL record for the longest kick back in 2011 after converting a 63-yard field goal against the Denver Broncos in 2011.
Janikowski ends his career ranked 10th in the NFL with 1,913 points.
His 436 made field goals are tied with Jason Elam for ninth, and his 542 attempts are 10th.
