55: City are now relentless. They are inching closer and closer to the breakthrough, which nearly arrives off the boot of Bernardo. He collects a loose ball at the back post only to be foiled by Tom Heaton.

53: Penalty appeal! Now… we have a big incident on our hands. Bernardo Silva’s powerful shot has struck the arm of Ashley Barnes inside the penalty area. The Burnley star did lean down to meet the shot but referee Paul Tierney isn’t interested. Looked stonewall in my eyes. A helping hand for Liverpool…

51: Close! Raheem Sterling and Sergio Aguero link up nicely just outside the box with the Argentine powering through. His near-post rocket is parried away by Tom Heaton. Strong palms.

48: Quite a lot has been made of Burnley’s tactics today. Sean Dyche’s side haven’t watered the pitch at all and as a result – zippy, slick play is quite difficult.

Have they put the sprinklers on at half-time? No they have not. Are they allowed to do that – of course they are!

45: And we’re back underway folks. Lots of worried Manchester City faces scattered around Turf Moor. An early goal wouldn’t half settle those nerves.

I’ve also just found out that Pep’s cardigan costs over £1500. Crazy.

HT: And that’s the break. Burnley have played well but surely that’s the worst Manchester City have played this season. They look careless and lethargic. Much better expected from Pep Guardiola, who was ranting and raving at Mikel Arteta on the substitutes bench for most of that half.

45: Two minutes added time.

43: City aren’t finding to too difficult to reach the Burnley penalty area – but once they reach it – there’s about nine claret shirts there to frustrate them. Leroy Sane sees his shot deflected followed quickly by a scuffed rebound.

Pep Guardiola waves his arms in frustration. Not a happy camper today in that coat/hoodie/fleece thing he likes to wear on cold days.

40: Bernardo Silva looks to find Sergio Aguero inside the box but Tom Heaton easily plucks it out of the sky. Sergio Aguero then embarks on a terrific solo run, shifts the ball to his right and curls a powerful drive just past the post.

37: Leroy Sane has had less touches than Ederson today. The least of any player on the pitch with 11. This has been an absolute snoozefest – and Jurgen Klopp’s side will be loving it.

34: Close! Nearly vintage Sergio Aguero at Turf Moor. He spins off Ben Mee and is inches from latching onto a lofted pass from Ilkay Gundogan.

Moments before that, David Silva tried to make some space inside the penalty area but Tarkowski makes the block and Zinchenko’s rebound flies all the way into orbit.

31: We’ve just ticked over the half-hour mark and Burnley have had the best chance of the match. Apparently Sean Dyche was a boyhood Liverpool fan? Extra incentive for the Clarets boss.

29: Things just aren’t clicking for the visitors. Wayward passing and a bit too slow in the build-up.

26: Raheem Sterling finds space in the centre and plays in Bernardo Silva. Bernardo waits… waits… and waits some more before shooting low at Tom Heaton.

23: Kyle Walker is down clutching his wrist after a 50/50 with Chris Wood. The fate many suffer when colliding with the big Australian. Think he’ll survive after a bit of medical attention.

20: Wow! Liverpool fans must have been out of their seats seeing Chris Wood peel away from his marker with only Ederson to beat. The hope is quickly dashed with Ederson flying off his line to collect.

17: Jack Cork slams the ball into Vincent Kompany from close range. Burnley fans want a penalty and it looks a good shout initially. Replays show it’s hit Kompany square in the head.

14: Oleksandr Zinchenko runs the ball straight out of play on the left channel. That pretty much sums up Manchester City’s start today. Very similar to their start against United on Wednesday.

11: Ashley Barnes, who has become the face of thousands of Liverpool twitter accounts, looks to break the line but the Burnley forward is penalised for offside.

8: Not a great deal has happened, actually. We’re used to seeing Pep Guardiola’s side blow teams away in the early stages but Burnley have held strong and aren’t giving City an inch.

5: Close! Ben Mee makes a crucial interception to prevent Kyle Walker’s drilled cross from reaching Sergio Aguero in the six-yard box. Without that touch it’s 1-0 to the visitors.

3: I don’t think we needed a crystal ball to predict how Burnley were going to play today. Each time they’ve won back possession it’s been sent long to Wood and Barnes. Neither of them have had any change from the City defence thus far.

1: Hello folks! Sorry I’m insanely late to Turf Moor. I just covered Leicester’s demolition job of Arsenal and have only just gathered my bearings.

Anyway, we’re LIVE and underway as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City look to continue their change to the Premier League title against a resilient Burnley – who have the red half of Merseyside willing them on!
