Coronation Street spoilers: Mary Taylor upset as Freda drops devastating Norris bombshell

Coronation Street’s Mary Taylor (played by Patti Clare) is about to go through more heartbreaking scenes on the ITV soap.

She is currently married to Norris Cole (Malcolm Hebdon) but it seems she’s about to discover he wants a divorce.

Mary herself wanted to part ways so she could start a relationship with builder Jan Lozinski (Piotr Baumann).

But it seemed her plan has backfired completely and in next week’s episodes, she will get a shocking wake-up call.

Mary decides to pay Norris a visit and asks Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) to go along with her for some friendly support.

They find number three’s door wide open and Freda Burgess (Ali Briggs) is sitting inside.

The newcomer is incredibly comfortable and welcomes the pair into the house, makes them a cup of tea, and then drops a clanger.

Freda explains Norris is off on a quiet and peaceful retreat, much to Mary’s shock, as her husband has never been silent in his life.

Furthermore, it’s revealed Norris is keen to move on from Weatherfield and plans to sell his beloved house and move away.

Mary asks Freda if her husband wants to return, but it seems smug Freda is keen on sticking the knife in where it really hurts.

According to The Sun, Freda explains Mary can’t be much of a wife to Norris considering she wants a divorce.

The former then ushers her guests out of the house and insists they need to clean it for the estate agents.

What exactly is does the return of Freda mean for the characters?

Elsewhere on Coronation Street it seems all eyes are on who will be found responsible for the factory collapse.

It seems Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) is the latest character who appears to be guilty.

Last night on Coronation Street, he desperately searched for his love Carla Connor (Alison King) as she has gone missing while racked with guilt.

Although valiant Peter searched high and low for Carla, she was truly nowhere to be seen.

Poor Peter turned back to the bottle, which made for harrowing scenes considering how well he had been doing truing to overcome his alcoholism.

Is he hiding more than just sorrow?

Coronation Street continues Monday on ITV at 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
