Avengers Endgame post credits: THREE scenes were ‘leaked’ weeks ago – where they cut?

WARNING: Major spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame.

Unlike all other Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, Avengers: Endgame does not have a post-credits scene, a mid-credits scene or any variation thereof.

It does have a minor audio stinger at the very end, but nobody can quite decide what exactly that is.

This renders an alleged “leak” from last month – in which no less than three tags were rumoured to be in store – completely false.

This is your last chance to dodge major spoilers – look away now if you haven’t seen the movie.

So were they cut, or did they never even exist? Let’s examine the evidence.

The first of the “leaked” three credits scenes, details of which went viral on Reddit, was Tony Stark at Steve Rogers’ memorial, with Pepper Potts and their kid.

He was reported to have said, “you were right”, and then walked off.

But there’s one key reason why this one’s almost definitely a fake: Steve didn’t die in Endgame. Tony did.

The second rumoured credits scene is the one that, in hindsight, was the most realistic.

It would reportedly have featured Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) and Laura (Linda Cardellini) dropping their kids off to be babysat by Peter Parker (Tom Holland).

When they come back later on to collect their children, they were said to find the kids sleeping – webbed to the wall.

Peter was reported to have looked absolutely exhausted, saying: “I can explain…”.

The third and final end credits scene would have provided a tantalising hint at the possibility of Wolverine joining the MCU.

The very final stinger was alleged to show a man walking down the street, with the camera keeping track of him from behind, masking his face.

When two criminals try to rob him on the street, he was said to take out his iconic claws before the screen snapped to black.

Marvel are not believed to have finalised plans for the X-Men to cross over into the MCU – so it’s best to assume that this, too, was a fake leak.

As it stands, Avengers: Endgame doesn’t really need any end credits scenes.

The moments at the end of the movie are already quite hopeful and optimistic; including Captain America getting his happy ending, Thor joining the Guardians of the Galaxy, and Valkyrie taking control of Asgard.

Tony Stark also got a heartfelt send-off from the huge cast of characters in the Marvel family, though some have argued that Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, got considerably less fanfare.

Avengers: Endgame is out now.
