Victoria Derbyshire, 50, reportedly married her beau Mark Sandell in front of family and friends at their home in Surrey last autumn, according to The Sun.The couple were also joined by their two young sons, Oliver 14 and Joe, 12. The broadcaster proposed to Mark the day after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. The BAFTA-winning TV star was given the all-clear and said in 2017: “My first official day of living with cancer was August 1, 2015.
“So I got up and went downstairs and announced to Mark that we had been together for 15 years and we should get married. He’s been married before and he said with a straight face, ‘I think marriage is overrated to be honest.’
“It completely broke the tension and yeah, one day we will get married, but I’m not telling you when.”
She added: “Should Strictly ever come calling, Derbyshire would not hesitate in appearing because now I really do know that life is short.”
The former Newsnight presenter recently opened up about her health diagnosis in a candid interview with the Metro.
She told the publication: “It was life-saving surgery. I had a fear about the anaesthetic, rather than getting rid of a breast.
“That was fine, it had cancer in there, get rid of it. I just worried, what if I don’t wake up?
“I know that was irrational – that was the anxiety in the run up to the operation.”
She continued: “The only way I could get to sleep the night before was to write two letters – one to Oliver who is my oldest son, who was 11 at the time, and one to Joe, who was eight at the time, just to tell them – I’m going to cry, sorry – just to tell them how much I love them and remind them of funny things they’d done throughout their life.”
She has since fronted ITV’s The Real Full Monty, which sees celebrities strip off on stage to raise awareness of cancer.
Meanwhile, the presenter recently took to Instagram to share a snap of her stunning outfit, while presenting on her BBC Two show.
The TV star sported a stunning mid-length green patterned dress and teamed the look with patent beige heels.
In view of her 5,904 followers, she wrote: Tuesday. Bold. “Club Tropicana drinks are free…”
Fans flooded the comment the section as many gushed over her stylish ensemble.
