Ms Ocasio-Cortez attacked Republicans after an image was shared of a politician stood next to a cardboard version of herself. Raging, she took to Twitter criticise the man, who she believed was a politician for the Democrats’ rivals. On the site she wrote: “GOP: Let’s pose our older male members next to cardboard cutouts of young female legislators.”
GOP is short for Grand Old Party, which is a nickname for the Republican Party.
In the tweet she also posted a link to an article shared by the Republican Party of Kentucky.
However, within minutes it was made clear that it was actually John Yarmuth, a Kentucky Democrat.
Writer Ryan Saavedra said: “Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) thinks Rep. John Yarmuth is a Republican member of Congress.

“It literally says in the tweet that she is quoting that Yarmuth is a Democrat.
“AOC doesn’t even know who her Democrat colleagues in Congress are, how embarrassing.”
Matt Whitlock, a senior advisor to the National Republican Senatorial Committee, tweeted: “1st grade readers are in fact the worst.”
Caleb Hull added: “In this tweet, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shows she has no idea who John Yarmuth even is.
“He’s a Kentucky Democrat who just happens to be the Chair of the House Budge Committee.
“Major yikes.”
Ms Ocasio-Cortez is seen by many as one of the key leaders in progressing the Democrat Party.
However, she was widely lampooned for her Green New Deal, which aims to tackle climate change in the US.
