Liverpool player ratings v Huddersfield: Robertson and Salah shine but one player gets a 4

Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah bagged a brace apiece, while Naby Keita continued his fine form with another goal to pile the pressure back on title rivals Manchester City.

Here, Express Sport runs the rule over Jurgen Klopp’s men.

Alisson: Was called into action more than many might have expected. Made a good save to keep out Juninho Bacuna’s long-range effort and was excellent with the ball at his feet as usual – 7 out of 10

Trent Alexander-Arnold: Right-back sensation continues to look like an old head on young shoulders. Set up Salah’s first goal with a delightful lobbed through ball and was always a danger going forward. Replaced by Joe Gomez with two minutes left to play – 8

Dejan Lovren: Made one last-ditch challenge that almost inadvertently set up a Huddersfield goal. Otherwise solid and nearly scored at the other end late on – 7

Virgil van Dijk: Quiet yet rarely troubled. One pass went unusually astray but a decent evening’s work from the player-of-the-year-in-waiting – 7

Andrew Robertson: Proved again why he is the best left-back in the Premier League with his marauding runs forward. Assisted Mane’s first goal and set up Salah to make it 5-0. Was superb going the other way as well – 10

Naby Keita: A late bloomer for Jurgen Klopp’s side but looks undroppable on current form. Scored after just 15 seconds to set Liverpool on their way and ensure early nerves were never a problem – 8

Jordan Henderson: Poor in possession but made amends to some extent with a lovely centre for Mane’s second. Still, Barcelona might look to target him in their upcoming Champions League semi-final – 5

Georginio Wijnaldum: Ever-reliable midfielder oozed class once again. Calm in possession and always kept things ticking over. Came off for Xherdan Shaqiri on 73 minutes – 8

Mohamed Salah: Two more goals from the Egyptian who is now the Premier League’s top scorer with 21 strikes this term. Selfish at times but who cares when he’s in such prolific form? – 9

Daniel Sturridge: Handed a rare start with Roberto Firmino ruled out through injury but failed to impress. Had one goal rightly ruled out for offside and rarely threatened otherwise. If Firmino does not come back soon the central striker role could be a real worry for Liverpool. Replaced by Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain after 73 minutes – 4

Sadio Mane: A brace for the Senegal winger means it might be a straight shootout between him and Salah for the Golden Boot. Hit the crossbar late on as he was denied a hat-trick – 9

Subs

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: Given just over 15 minutes on his comeback from injury to the delight of the Anfield crowd. Threatened to score shortly after coming on – 6

Xherdan Shaqiri: Involved in the fifth goal as he found Robertson down the left – 7

Joe Gomez: Only played the closing stages but what a boost his return could prove to be for the run-in – 6

Subs not used: Simon Mignolet, James Milner, Joel Matip, Divock Origi
