Jamestown season 3 location: Where is Jamestown filmed? Where's it set?

Jamestown season three premieres on Sky One tonight (Friday, April 26) for the hit historical drama’s final ever series. Set in the stunning historic location of Jamestown, Virginia, filming for the Sky One actually takes place outside of the USA. Here’s all there is to know about the filming locations in Jamestown season three.

Where is Jamestown season 3 filmed?

Jamestown season three wasn’t actually filming in the Virginian city of the same name.

Sky One show bosses instead filmed in the Hungarian capital city of Budapest and its surrounding areas.

The cast and crew flew to Hungary in 2018 for filming and new producer Lis Steele explained the decision to Sky.

Steele said: “Rural Hungary provides a fantastic combination of diverse locations,”

HOW TO WATCH JAMESTOWN ONLINE

The Jamestown producer continued: “Rivers and endless untamed varieties of woodland that provide a great feeling of the early ‘wild west’ or iconic western imagery.

“We manage in this series to further expand the visuals with some never been seen before locations on the show.

“I think the Jamestown settlement designed by Donal Woods in series one takes a lot of beating.

“He managed to create both a fantastic sense of a frontier town (based on the original Jamestown settlement) with exteriors having a genuine Western feel, yet creating the interiors so that when combined with the cinematography produced a sense of Jacobean England.

“My other favourite is the location where we filmed Henry’s (Max Beesley) shack – on screen the combination of the natural light and the setting make it feel truly epic.”

HOW MANY EPISODES ARE IN JAMESTOWN SEASON 3?

The Jamestown cast and crew also revealed the one thing they’d recommend doing in the Hungarian city.

Jason Flemyng, who plays Governor Yeardly said: “It would be to go to Margaret Island.

“Bring your shorts and go to Palatinus, which is the most amazing swimming area. They’ve got these incredible swimming pools.”

Jocelyn actress Naomi Battrick also said: “Walk up the Citadella on a nice day and just watch Budapest.

“It’s the most beautiful thing to walk up the top. There are loads of routes you can go up but I would recommend the kind of bushier trails which are by the front.”

WHO IS IN THE CAST OF JAMESTOWN SEASON 3?

Flemyng and Battrick are just two of the famous face returning to the Jamestown cast in season three.

Max Beesley, who fans may recognise from Showtime’s Homeland and USA Network’s Suits, reprise the role of Henry Sharrow.

Sophie Rundle returns as Alice, as does her on-screen banished husband Silas, played by Stuart Martin.

A handful of newcomers also join the Jamestown regulars for season three.

Game of Thrones’ Harry Grasby takes on the role of Tamlin and Ben Batt will portray Willmus Crabtree.

Jamestown season 3 premieres on Sky One at 9pm on Friday, April 26.
