Trump-Kim tensions ERUPT as North Korea accuses President of ‘BAD faith’

The North Korean leader pointed the finger at the US and said peace and security on the Korean peninsula depends on them, The Times reported. Trump and Kim’s meeting ended abruptly in February. The talk collapsed after Kim said he would only stop its nuclear weapons programme if international sanctions are lifted.

Kim told state media: “The situation is now at a standstill and has reached a critical point where it may return to its original state as the US took a unilateral attitude in bad faith at the recent second summit talks.”

The leader is currently meeting with Putin at a summit in Vladivostok.

He sided with North Korea against Trump saying security must be guaranteed first and foremost, The Times reported.

The talks between the two leaders were a first for the countries which share a border.

Following talks, Putin said: “We need to restore the power of international law, to return to a state where international law, not the law of the strongest, determines the situation in the world.

“North Korea needs guarantees of its security, the preservation of its sovereignty.”

He added he would “just as openly discuss this issue with the US leadership. There are no secrets.

“Russia’s position always has been transparent. There are no plots of any kind.”

The North Korean leader has praised Putin since the visit.

He said: “I would like to offer again sincere gratitude to Mr President for making time in his busy schedule and come thousands of miles from the capital city of Moscow to here to give us time for a great conversation.

“We are visiting Russia this time to meet in person with President Putin and exchange our opinions.

“It is to exchange our mutual views on Korean Peninsula and this region’s political landscape which is a great focus of the world’s attention.”
