A victory at Old Trafford tonight will see Pep Guardiola’s side return to the top of the Premier League table.
And the City boss has called for his side to remain focused as they bid to keep hold of their crown.
“We have to win four games to retain our title,” Guardiola said.
“It is not an easy place to go but it is a nice place to go. We know exactly what we have to do.
“It is a derby and all the times we play against United they are special games and players do their best.”
Liverpool have given the defending champions a run for their money this season.
Jurgen Klopp’s side moved two points ahead at the top of the table following their win over Cardiff on Sunday, although the Reds have played a game more than City.
But winger Bernardo Silva is determined for City to keep the Premier League title race in their own hands, starting with victory over rivals United.
“It’s another massive game that we know we need to win as Liverpool will probably win all the games they have left in the Premier League,” Silva said.
“We only depend on ourselves but they depend on us and we want to try to keep it that way.”
