Lorraine Kelly: ‘You’re hating this’ ITV host speaks out on ‘bad’ Ralph Fiennes interview

Lorraine Kelly, 59, has been a firm fixture on her ITV show for the past nine years, interviewing a variety of guests from the world of showbiz and entertainment. Now, the Scottish native has spilled on an interview which did not exactly go as smoothly as she’d hoped, in which she asked the A-list celebrity if they “were hating this”. The ITV favourite revealed all in a candid interview with this week’s Radio Times, saying the star in question, actor Ralph Fiennes, 56, told her he hated doing press. When asked if she’d had any bad interviews, she told the publication: “Once Ralph Fiennes was on to talk about his movie, but he was literally in the foetal position, rocking backwards and forwards.

“I said, ‘You’re hating this, aren’t you?’ We had a really interesting conversation about how he loves his job but hates doing press.”

She added: “I can’t believe how intimidated A-list actors get when they can’t hide behind a character.”

British actor Ralph is best known for his role in the film Schindler’s List and The English Patient.

During the chat, the presenter also opened up about her “regrets” as she discussed her long-standing television career, saying her biggest was her wardrobe choices which she deemed “ridiculous”.

She continued: “I look back at my fashion howlers on GMTV and think, I couldn’t have had any friends, because somebody should have told me I looked ridiculous!”

Meanwhile, the presenter recently shared a rare glimpse into her family life with snaps of her recent getaway to Botswana with her husband Steve Smith.

The former GMTV star posted a snap of herself cuddled up to her spouse, whilst the pair enjoyed a safari trip.

In view of her 265,000 followers, she captioned the sweet photo: “Oh Africa – beautiful and heartbreaking. Cannot wait to see you again. Thank you #botswana #zambia #wildlifeconservation.

“We will be back soon #blessed.”

Fans flocked to comment on the post, as one person said: “Looks incredible, it’s on my bucket list,” while another person replied: “Can we say, for a make up free zone, you look stunning!!!! Happy Easter darling.”

While a third person commented: “Always LOVE your holiday snaps!”

It wasn’t the only loved-up snap Lorraine posted as she also shared another with her spouse.

Beaming away in their khaki outfits, Lorraine wrote: “Thank you beautiful #botswana and #zambia for an incredible trip.

“Close encounters with #lion #elephant #leopard, #rhino #cheetah #africanwilddogs and even #honeybadgers – generous and open hearted people. Loved camping. Can’t wait to return.”

The full interview with Lorraine Kelly can be found in the latest issue of Radio Times, out now.

Lorraine airs today on ITV at 8.30am.
