Avengers Endgame after credits: Did you catch THIS hidden post-credits sting?

WARNING: Minor spoilers ahead for Avengers: Endgame.

Given that this film is supposed to signify the end of the current era of Marvel storytelling, it’s no surprise that there is no post-credits scene.

There’s no scene during the initial name flashes, before the main roll of detailed acknowledgements, or at the very end of the run-time.

But is there a special little something at the end? Possibly.

Listen hard, and the very end of the reel – the Marvel Studios logo – has a curious sound effect playing over it.

What exactly that is remains to be seen.

While an Express.co.uk team member thought it was a death toll, signifying the huge losses suffered in the film, others online have suggested it could be the sound of Iron Man forging his suit back in the very beginning.

Whatever it is, it’s a very brief noise – like the sound of metal bashing or clanging.

But whatever the case, there is officially no credits scene on this film whatsoever: not a comedy tag, or a throw-forward to a future project like Shang-Chi or The Eternals.

Avengers: Endgame has had stellar reviews, and is currently on 97% on Rotten Tomatoes.

If it holds, it’ll share the record for the highest-rated Marvel movie in history – tied with Black Panther.

The lowest the studio’s 22-film story has ever gone by this metric is 67%; for The Incredible Hulk and Thor: The Dark World.

Box office forecasts are absolutely enormous, and now it’s believed that it stands a good chance of becoming the highest-grossing film of all time.

If it succeeds, pushing Avatar down to second place, it’ll be a win/win for Zoe Saldana – who stars in both.

Avengers: Endgame is out now.
