Carol Vorderman Twitter: Countdown star BLOCKS 'idiot' over 'Tory women' tweet

Radio host Julia Hartley-Brewer, 50, uploaded a picture of herself having hiked ip Scafell Pike in the Lake District in view of her 158,000 Twitter followers yesterday. “I’m the highest woman in England in this pic. 2 hours 20 mins to the summit of Scafell Pike – including jelly baby stops,” she said. “To put that time in perspective, a team of Gurkhas went up Scafell Pike last week and reached the summit in 40 minutes flat. They basically ran up. I’m knackered even thinking about it.” Ex-Countdown presenter Carol Vorderman, 58, was soon tagged into the conversation by a fan, who remarked on her love of hiking, saying: “Hook up with @carolvorders she’s hiking mad at the mo…”

However, another social media user had something less constructive to share, replying to both Julia and Carol: “FFS what is with hiking and Tory women?”(sic)

The first Twitter user then hit back with a succinct: “K**b.”

The comeback appeared to entertain Carol, who chimed in: “Lol.”

She proceeded to share the remark about “Tory women” with her own 399,000 followers, writing: “Hilarious… apparently hiking is now a political activity… laughing so loudly.

“He’s blocked OBVS… for being an idiot,”(sic) she continued.

“BTW I’m not with any political party, but I am the Official Ambassador for the ALL PARTY Parliamentary Group for General Aviation… hooray.”

She later added: “Best just to block the idiots.”

Carol is a keen hiker and embarked on a walking marathon in the Brecon Beacons at the weekend, sharing a series of stunning pictures from the outing with her fans on Twitter.

The shots showed the Countdown favourite showing off her hourglass figure in skintight leggings, with one seeing her gazing out over a spectacular view as she turned away from the camera to ensure her two-time Rear of the Year-winning bottom took centre-stage.

She highlighted her incredible physique in a snug-fitting long-sleeved top and paired the look with a hat and practical trainers.

The presenter also uploaded several more pictures to document her walk, posing on a stone bench in another, one leg propped up on the arm as she rested nonchalantly.

She later took a breather on top of a hay bale, the Beacons visible in the background as she captioned the pics: “Needed a rest… 26.3 miles… my WALKING MARATHON in the stunning @BreconBeaconsNP.”

Carol became a household name after joining the Countdown team when the long-running game show first aired on Channel 4 back in 1982.

She was an integral part of the line-up, gaining fans for her impressive maths skills and now-famous bottom, until her departure in 2008, after which she was replaced by Rachel Riley, 33.

Since then, she has hosted Loose Women, stood in as guest presenter on Lorraine and continues to work on the airwaves for BBC Radio Wales.

Carol has been married and divorced twice and is a mother-of-two with her second husband Patrick King.
