Avengers Endgame screenings to be CANCELLED over tickets scandal?

The Marvel film is already set to be a huge smash in China, and in fact the country could be key to it breaking all-time opening weekend records.

But Chinese authorities are said to be threatening to crack down on huge surcharges that some cinemas are adding to ticket prices.

According to South China Morning Post, some are even bolstering tickets to around £35 – or 300 yuan.

Now, it is said that authorities have told cinemas they can only add surcharges and service fees up to a maximum of 10% of the ticket’s face value.

If they fail to comply, they could be banned from showing Avengers: Endgame at all.

Avengers: Endgame is out on Thursday in the UK and in China on Wednesday – April 24.

Over the weekend it was forecast by The Hollywood Reporter that the film could reach $250 million in the US alone over its opening weekend.

Deadline then said it has “a good shot” of topping $260 million – with an unprecedented $300 million not completely off the table.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, analyst Shawn Robbins said: “It’s unprecedented territory.

“It feels pretty reasonable, if there is such a thing, to say that it’ll set a new record at this point.”

Endgame is the climax of the Infinity Saga, which will have spanned a total of 22 movies.

Reviews for the all-star showdown are due out tomorrow, at 11pm UK time.

After that, it remains mostly unclear where Kevin Feige will steer Marvel Studios – as nothing has been officially announced beyond Spider-Man: Far From Home, due July.

Expected to be unveiled soon, though, are introductory movies for Shang-Chi and The Eternals, plus a solo prequel for Black Widow.

Sequels for Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Captain Marvel should also be en route.
