Tess Daly: Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh reacts to Strictly host’s ‘devastating’ news

Kym commented: “Poor Tess Daly! I found the recent news that she killed her dog absolutely devastating.”

She continued: “Her Maltese Shih Tzu Minnie got out throughout a door left open by builders and ran in front of her car’s wheels. That kind of thing has always worried me.”

The small screen favourite, who plays Michelle Connor in the ITV soap, then revealed how she was also concerned about her two pets.

The star stated: “We had automatic gates in our old house and I used to ring ahead, just in case my dogs were in the garden when the gates opened for the same reason.

“In Tess’ situation, she didn’t expect her dog to be there. I would be totally heartbroken if it was my Barney or Rico and I’m sure Tess and her family are.”

Kym’s column also saw her address an awards show decision, saying it was the “right” thing to do.

Meanwhile, it comes days after Tess Daly revealed her family were mourning the loss of Minnie for the first time.

The pet, who she shared with husband Vernon Kay, 44, and their children Phoebe, 14, and Amber, 9, tragically passed away last month due to the accident.

The presenter told The Sun on Sunday that she was “devastated” over losing the animal.

She said: “It’s a dog owner’s worst nightmare. It has had a huge effect on the whole family and we are heartbroken at losing Minnie.

“This has, and continues to be, a very emotional time for us all.”

Tess revealed that she was completely unaware that the pup was loose, and sadly didn’t have time to stop the car as she ran underneath the wheels.

The incident took place just before the family were set to go on holiday to the Maldives in celebration of the star’s 50th birthday on April 27.

“Minnie was like another child to Tess and Vernon and to lose a member of the family in such a tragic, hideous way is understandably devastating,” a source added.

Tess was seen for the first time since what happened this week, dressed in a bright red top in London.
