The Big Bang Theory season 12: Wil Wheaton speaks out on making 'adjustments' for show

The Big Bang Theory is coming to an end after 12 years on CBS, and it has seen a huge number of guest stars.

One of those guest stars, Wil Wheaton, arrived on the show early on in the show – and then proceeded to become a regular arrival in various stories.

While he first began as a kind of villain for Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), he eventually became a close ally of the entire group.

But Wil has now spoken out about the show, and revealed he found it a little difficult to play the villainous version of himself.

Speaking to TV Insider Wil explained: “When we transition from that Wil Wheaton from being a villain to ally and part of the ‘friend’ group, he started to become more like who I am.”

He went on to call the entire procedure “an adjustment” – and went on to detail how difficult it was making the change.

Wil continued: “That was an adjustment. First, I had to adjust to being a villain to, basically, being myself.

“It took me about ten years, but I could finally make that separation and be comfortable about being a heightened version of myself.”

Despite the trials of becoming a fictional version of himself Wil went on to tell the publication he enjoyed the experience.

“It has meant so much,” he added. “It’s been such an incredible gift to work with these magnificent actors, this phenomenal writing staff.

“And just the most amazing and professional crew with which I’ve ever worked.”

Wil isn’t the only cast member who has praised the show now that it is over.

Leonard Hofstadter star Johnny Galecki recently posted an image on his Instagram account featuring him and the writing team.

Stood in the writers’ room, Johnny captioned the image: “The illustrious @bigbangtheory_cbs Writer’s Room, where (at least) 278 stories have been imagined and built by the incredible minds of…”

After listing the names of the various writers involved in making the show, Johnny went on to point out a show first.

He added: “(Note the empty white board behind us as there are no longer any future episodes to discuss. A first in 12 years.)”

Fans weren’t overly happy about the announcement however, as they are already mourning the loss of the show.

One commented on the image saying: “Our household will feel a bit empty on Thursday’s now.”

While another added: “We sure have enjoyed these past 12 Seasons of TBBT. You have brought so much laughter into our family TV nights. Thank you all.”

The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays on CBS and in the UK on E4.
