Danny Walters: 'I'd like to apologise' EastEnders' Keanu Taylor addresses offensive tweets

According to The Sun, EastEnders actor Danny Walters, 25, shared offensive tweets on Twitter seven years ago, before he was a cast member on the BBC show.

The publication reported Danny replied to a friend: “Also you owe me £5 f*****!” which has now been deleted.

Another post allegedly saw him reply “you little f**” to a pal in a conversation about football.

Last night, he apologised for his tweets, telling the publication: “I am very sorry for posting these immature comments to a friend when I was 19-years-old.

“It’s not language I would ever use now and I’d like to apologise to anyone I’ve offended.”

A friend is claimed to have said Danny is “mortified” by the resurfaced tweets, adding: ”He doesn’t have a bad bone in him.”

Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Danny for comment.

The actor, who joined Albert Square in 2017, has not addressed the alleged tweets on social media.

His latest post sees the actor urging his fans to vote for his on-screen mum Karen Taylor (played by Lorraine Stanley) at this year’s Soap Awards.

In view of his 114,000 Instagram followers, he shared a picture of the pair with the comment: “This wonderful woman has been nominated for Best Actress in this years Soap Awards @thebritishsoapawards Lorraine, you are a joy to work with on and off screen. Well deserved.”

The EastEnders star has also made the long list for the Best Actor award.

Since joining the soap, Danny’s character has found himself at the centre of some of the soap’s hard-hitting storylines.

Last year, he began an affair with Sharon Mitchell (played by Letitia Dean), behind Phil Mitchell’s (Steve McFadden’s) back.

Danny admitted filming steamy scenes with his co-star were “awkward” but praised her for her professionalism.

He told Bang Showbiz: “Doing those sorts of scenes can be awkward and hard but we’ve had such a fun time doing those scenes.

“I’ve been lucky to have the opportunity to work with Letitia.”

He added: “To have that storyline with anyone in the cast… I’m a lucky guy to work with Letitia because she’s so experienced, she’s such a joy to work with.”

So far, the pair have kept their affair under wraps, but will Phil soon found out?

In upcoming scenes Sharon will be so overcome with guilt that she confesses to Phil that she was distracted when he was away.

Keanu overhears and interrupts the pair to make sure Sharon doesn’t reveal the true reason for her distraction.

Keanu’s plan is successful but with Sharon feeling guilty and on the warpath, it doesn’t look like their affair will be a secret for long.

In recent episodes, viewers have also witnessed Phil using Keanu to help him carry out dodgy dealings.

EastEnders airs tonight at 7.30pm on BBC One.
