Cuba issues chilling WARNING to Trump after fresh sanctions – ‘Bay of Pigs AGAIN’

The new US sanctions will severely restrict non-family travel to Cuba. They will also prevent American citizens sending more than $1,000 (£766) every three months. The new measures were announced by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo using the Helms-Burton Act, first introduced in 1996 to target the Cuban regime.

Taking to Twitter Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez said: “I strongly reject Secretary of State Pompeo’s announced activation.

“It is an attack against international law and the sovereignty of Cuba and third states.

“Aggressive escalation of US against Cuba will fail.

“As in the Bay of Pigs, we shall overcome.”

The Bay of Pigs invasion was an unsuccessful attempt to remove Fidel Castro’s communist regime, organised by the CIA.

Around 1,500 anti-Castro Cuban exiles were landed, but surrendered after three days of bitter fighting.

Mr Rodriguez’s claim was backed by Josefina Vidal, head of the Cuban Foreign Ministry’s US division.

She tweeted: “Secretary Pompeo remember Bay of Pigs?

“You were defeated 58 years ago.

“You have been defeated many times afterwards.

“You will be defeated again this time.”

The additional US measures will also see another five Cuban firms added to it’s blacklist.

White House national security advisor John Bolton welcomed the new measures commenting: “Under this administration, we don’t throw dictators lifelines. We take them away.”
