Lucy Mecklenburgh: Fitness mogul reveals the trick you can use to get a flat stomach

Eating less and moving more is the key to losing weight, but some people hope to target specific areas of their body when on their quest to be healthier.

For many slimmers, they might pick a specific diet plan in the hope of toning up their stomach and shifting belly fat.

To target any specific area of the body, dieters need to reduce how much fat they have overall, but doing certain things can help achieve the look of a flatter stomach.

Lucy Mecklenburgh, co-founder of online fitness, nutrition and health platform, Results with Lucy, shared her tips on how to flatten the midriff.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Lucy explained it can be difficult for a person to target just one area of their body.

She revealed to help get washboard abs it is important to look into what lifestyle choices are being made and what that means for dieters.

“Things such as sleep and stress can affect the stomach,” she revealed.

“For me, certain foods can do this. Sometimes when I have a lot more vegetables than I usually would, I can bloat from that.

“It’s not bad, it just sometimes means there are certain foods that don’t agree with you.”

Lucy explained a large belly could in fact be down to bloating and there is a way to find out what is causing this.

“If you are really suffering with bloating, it may be best to start a food diary and see, it’s getting to know your body,” she said.

The star also suggested opting for peppermint tea is a good way to flatten out the abs.

Although some things can be done to help the stomach look flatter, Lucy explained specific areas cannot necessarily be targeted when it comes to weight loss and instead slimmers but aim to cut fat from their whole body.

So what does she recommend as the best way to do this?

Lucy said: “We’re all about lifestyle and you’re not going to get your dream body in four-weeks and then that’s it.

“You have to change your whole lifestyle, which is every aspect of your life. Different plans can help you lose weight quickly but in a healthy way.”

The fitness star revealed one plan can help shed fat and help slimmers learn about their bodies and how to keep the weight off.

When speaking about what to eat on this plan, the star revealed: “Veggie omelette for breakfast, salmon and asparagus for lunch and some roast chicken and loads of vegetables for dinner.”

Giving an insight into diet tips, Lucy also explained what else slimmers can do to help them lose weight.

The star revealed adding one healthy habit in at a time will help slimmers start to lose weight, and also keep them motivated.

She explained she added in eating breakfast to her own routine to improve her fitness, but said different tips will work for different people. 

The co-founder of her Results with Lucy, Cecilia Harris, explained what else people can do when trying to lose weight.

She said they must find what works for their body and ensure they are eating plenty of nutritious food.
