Avengers Endgame: Does a new emoji hint at THIS fan favourite character returning?

Anyone who uses Twitter will know that trending hashtags are often given emojis to be just that extra bit, well, extra. The social media site recently released over 40 emojis relating to the upcoming Avengers: Endgame release. They were created by artist Truck Torrence and feature fan favourites, both living, snapped, and dead.

What do the emojis mean for Korg?

Given the emojis feature characters who are long dead, the fact that Korg (played by Taika Waititi) has one of his own doesn’t mean he’ll be appearing in Endgame.

Yet Marvel fans are nothing if not full of hope.

Korg was a fan favourite for his role in Thor: Ragnarok, though his fate was left open-ended at the end of the movie.

The opening commentary of the Avengers: Infinity War DVD has revealed what happened to Korg, with the cryptic message: “All I can say is pray for Korg.”

Korg, for those who don’t remember, was one of the gladiators forced to battle each other by the cosmic being and ruler of Sakaar, the Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum).

Korg speaks politely, with a New Zealand accent, and is known for being upfront about what he’s thinking.

One of Ragnarok’s post-credits scenes showed Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) standing on the bridge of the Asgardians refuge ship when a large shadow suddenly dwarfs their ship.

Infinity War confirmed the ship which made this huge shadow belonged to Thanos (Josh Brolin).

Infinity War picks up immediately with the aftermath of the post-credits scene of Thor: Ragnarok.

Avengers: Infinity War starts with a distress call from Thor and Loki’s ship, then Thanos not only boarded the ship but killed half of the Asgardians.

After all, Thanos’ plan to balance the universe by wiping out half of life.

This scene was where many of Marvel’s favourite heroes, or villains as it were, met their maker, including Loki and Heimdall (Idris Elba).

However, characters whose fates were not shown included Miek (Samuel Vincent), and Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, and the aforementioned Korg.

Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely’s inauspicious warning doesn’t clarify whether Korg is alive or dead.

This, combined with his brand new Twitter emoji, has given fans a renewed sense of hope.

Avengers Endgame is out in UK cinemas on Thursday, April 25, 2019.
