Socialist Sanders MILLIONAIRE: Tax returns show income equality campaigner’s HUGE wealth

Mr Sanders, who is running to become President in 2020, has long supported the working class person, and campaigned tirelessly against the country’s growing income inequality. But according to MSN, Mr Sanders’ tax returns show he had a gross income of $561,293 (£428,519.14) in 2018, $1,131,925 (£864,168.14) in 2017 and $1,062,626 (£811,261.82) in 2016. That income was considerably lower in 2015, the year in which he attempted to become the Democratic nominee.

He would later fall short with Hillary Clinton taking on President Donald Trump.

In a statement, Mr Sanders said: “These tax returns show that our family has been fortunate.

“I am very grateful for that, as I grew up in a family that lived paycheck to paycheck and I know the stress of economic insecurity.

“I consider paying more in taxes as my income rose to be both an obligation and an investment in our country.”

Reports suggest the Senator saw his income grow as a result of his book ‘Our Revolution’ being published.

The release of his tax returns comes after mounting pressure was placed on Trump to follow suit.

He has continually refused to do release the information.

The latest developments come as new figures revealed Trump’s re-election campaign had already ready raised an unprecedented sum.

He has already raised a staggering $30million (£22.9million) in the first quarter of 2019 which has put him ahead of both his Democratic rivals combined.

The $30million fund is an incredible amount for a president in a non-election year and has been aided by the Republican National Committee (RNC).

The RNC added $45.8million (£34.9million) which combined with the pro-Trump campaign, reportedly puts the overall total at $82million (£62.6million).

Trump’s shattering amount is much more than Barack Obama’s $2million (£1.5million) amount at this stage in the election campaign.
