Liverpool not slowing down

Raheem Sterling believes the Premier League title race will go to the wire and insists there will be no let-up from Manchester City.

Liverpool’s win over Chelsea on Sunday sent them back to the top, just a couple of hours after City beat Crystal Palace 3-1 to briefly lead the pack.

But with City having played a game less, their destiny is in their own hands.

Sterling feels the title rivals will continue matching each other stride for stride over what promises to be an exciting run-in.

“Yes, 100 per cent, the way Liverpool have been playing it will go down to the wire,” he said. “I don’t see us slowing down now. Liverpool have a great squad, great self-belief, but so do we.”

Wanted: Julian Brandt

Liverpool have competition in the battle to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Julian Brandt, reports claim.

Jurgen Klopp’s title challengers have frequently been linked with the attacking talent, who has registered seven goals and 14 assists this season.

And German publication Bild claim Liverpool are ready to swoop.

It’s reported the Reds are prepared to tigger Brandt’s £22million release clause to bring the Germany international to Anfield.

However, Klopp will have to fend off competition from European rivals Juventus and Real Madrid, who are ready to make their presence known.

Philippe Coutinho snub

Philippe Coutinho will not be joining Manchester United this summer after reportedly being disappointed with the jeers from the Old Trafford crowd last week.

United had been linked with a move for the former Liverpool star who could depart the Nou Camp this summer.

But Spanish outlet Sport claim Coutinho won’t be moving to United should he leave Barcelona.

It’s reported that the Brazilian ruled out the Red Devils after being jeered during the first leg of Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Manchester United last week.

Coutinho doesn’t want to betray his former supporters and knows a move to United would do exactly that.

Rafael Camacho takes aim

Liverpool forward Rafael Camacho has reacted angrily to being played out of position in the Reds’ Under-23 side.

Camacho scored a hat-trick as Liverpool’s youngsters smashed Leicester 6-0 on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp has used Camacho as a right-back in each of his two first team appearances for Liverpool.

And the Portugal U18 international took to social media to slam Klopp and his coaching staff for their reluctancy to play him further forward.

“I do not know whose idea it is, but I will prove that they are mistaken about my football,” Camacho’s Instagram post read. “I’m not a right defender, I’m an attacker who scores goals. This is my DNA.”
