Alex Jones: The One Show host's replacement 'will be professional' after SWEARING on TV

The One Show presenter, Alex Jones, 45, is pregnant with her second child and with her due date edging closer, there has been much speculation about who will replace her on the sofa. Broadcaster Angela Scanlon, 35, revealed she will be stepping in to host the BBC series after she appeared on Sunday Brunch with presenters Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer on Channel 4 at the weekend. Speaking to the pair, she joked she “will be more professional” after she swore live on their programme. Chatting after the on-air mishap, Tim quizzed the star: “Alex Jones is pregnant again. You covered on The One Show last time. Will you be going back on there?”

Angela replied: “I’m actually on The One Show tomorrow. Yes, I will be sitting in for Alex.”

The Sunday Brunch host said: “You know that’s live as well, so you can’t swear on that one.”

To which Angela chuckled, and said: “I do. But I’m more in the mode there. Once you have an ear piece on, it’s more professional you know.”

Both Tim and Simon seemingly appeared stunned by the comment of “professionalism”, as the latter added: “Are you reading that as [The One Show] is proper telly?”

Tim nodded: “Yes.”

Angela sheepishly added: “Sorry. That’s a compliment.”

It comes after the red-haired star was cooking alongside Simon, before a few peppercorns jumped out of the mortar causing Angela to say: “Oh, s**t.”

Immediately realising her mistake, she covered her mouth with her hand and turned to Tim, who apologised to viewers at home for Angela’s language.

Not letting the presenter get off too lightly, Tim remarked: “You’re a TV presenter as well, apologise,”

Angela then apologised for her mistake before Tim jumped in to move the conversation back on to the food Angela and Simon were preparing.

The Robot Wars host was joined on the show by guests Emma Bunton, Stephen Mulhern, Jacob Anderson, Joe Dempsie and Becky Hill on the Channel 4.

Meanwhile, in a recent episode of The One Show, Alex was joined by DIY SOS host Nick Knowles, 55, and fellow guest Miriam Gargoyles, 77, before a seemingly awkward exchange took place.

Actress Miriam took a cheeky swipe about Nick’s appearance after he made a surprising admission about an artistic self-portrait.

The DIY SOS presenter revealed he had a portrait painted of himself and admitted it was a “good likeness” to him.

He said: “It was, it had a big nose and a bit beardy, and it was a very good likeness.

“But where do you hang a picture of yourself in your own home? You can’t do it!”

Miriam cheekily added: “I wouldn’t have said you were an oil painting!” which was met with laughter from the studio audience.

The One Show airs tonight at 7pm on BBC One.
