A Place In The Sun: ‘I can’t say’ Presenter nearly gives too much away amid show ‘pitch’

A Place In The Sun star Jonnie Irwin took to Twitter while shooting on location in Spain on Thursday. The presenter no doubt made his 12,000 followers envious with the video, which revealed his sunny set complete with swimming pool. However, the 45-year-old’s upload had one viewer wanting to know more, but they were soon shot down. “With a budget of £250k this 3/4 bed villa has to be a contender, no? #spain #propertyhunter,” he captioned the clip.

Jonnie’s offering saw the camera pan across a serene terrace with large pool, sea views and palm trees.

“If they don’t buy this place they’re mad,” he also quipped, and soon received hundreds of likes.

It was then that one fan remarked: “Lovely views, whereabouts is it?” as all he had revealed was the country.

“I cant’t say yet,” Jonnie remarked. “I want my clients to buy it!!!”

His remark suggested the potential buyer in question was keen to proceed further after viewing the villa.

“Haha understood,” the user said. “Wish I was in a position to grab it but I’m torn between Spain and Cyprus. There’s a new show idea, Away or Away?”

Jonnie, who has fronted the programme since 2004, then stated: “You joke but I’ve already pitched that idea!”

The viewer then quipped: “I may not have been joking, I’ve often wished you did do that. I’m available if you want a test run, just off to patent the name.”

A Place In The Sun: Home Or Away? has been running for 15 years, with the father-of-one and Jasmine Harman being regular fixtures from the start.

The likes of Laura Hamilton, Danni Menzies and Jean Johansson have since joined the cast.

Jonnie has also fronted shows such as Escape to the Country and To Buy or Not to Buy, after graduating with a degree in estate management.

Meanwhile, it comes just days after A Place In The Sun co-star Jasmine Harman spoke out about a particular scene she refused to do.

The 43-year-old, who is a vegan, reflected on a time she was asked to film at a fish market, but swiftly refused after witnessing graphic scenes.

Spilling all to Express.co.uk, she said: “There have been a few things I have refused to do. There was one time I think we were in the Cape Verde islands… so we introduce the area before we introduce the property and show the house hunters around.

“… They were bringing the fish in from the sea and chopping them up. The floor was red and awash with blood. I just couldn’t.”

A Place In The Sun: Home Or Away? airs weekdays at 3pm on Channel 4.
