Game of Thrones season 8 LEAKS – Why HBO will be going ALL OUT to stop GoT leaks

Game of Thrones season 8 is fast approaching and HBO have been doing all they can to stop any leaks from spoiling the final GoT season.

Game of Thrones season 8 has its premiere on Sunday April 15, which is the first of six final episodes of the hugely popular TV series.

Game of Thrones season 8 will wrap up the story of George R R Martin’s fantasy epic which began on TV all the way back in 2011.

Since then Game of Thrones has grown into the biggest TV show in the world and fans will be on tenterhooks to see how it all ends.

Last time Game of Thrones aired there were a number of major leaks that emerged online.

Firstly, ahead of the start of Game of Thrones season 7 the entire plot outline leaked on Reddit.

And then during Game of Thrones season 7 two episodes were leaked ahead of being officially aired.

These episodes – Game of Thrones season 7 episode 4 and episode 6 – leaked and were available on torrent and illegal streaming sites.

The leaked episodes featured some huge moments for season 7 and for the story of the entire series in general.

Game of Thrones season 7 episode 6 – Beyond The Wall – especially had some game-changing and shocking twists for GoT.

HBO surely will be doing everything they can to avoid a repeat of similar leaks emerging during the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones.

And ahead of Game of Thrones season 8 airing HBO have been putting in a number of measures in place to make sure nothing leaks.

Game of Thrones star Iain Glen explained how measures were put in place to stop any story details leaking during the filming of season 8.

He said: “They’re absolutely paranoid now about anyone finding out anything about the series and spoiling it.

“We weren’t allowed a written word on a page.”

Glen added: “Everything was accessed through iPads with different security you had to get through to access it.

“Which caused a problem for the actors, I have to say.”

While Joe Dempsie explained: “The most palpable difference is just in terms of security.

“I mean security in terms of plot and scripts and any information pertaining to where we might be shooting at any given time.

“During the whole course of season 7 and season 8 I have never laid eyes on a shooting schedule.

“Your filming dates are on a need to know basis. You don’t get hard copies of scripts anymore. They are all on this special app. Which are triple locked.”

While David Nutter, who directed three of the final Game of Thrones episodes, said security was airtight during filming with fake scenes shot.

It all seems to have paid of with no details leaking about Game of Thrones ahead of the big season 8 premiere.

Game of Thrones season 8 is being simulcast in the UK so it will be aired in Britain at the same time as our counterparts in the US.

You can watch the Game of Thrones season 8 premiere at 2am UK time on Monday April 15 in Britain on Sky Atlantic.
