Amanda Holden: 'I miss him' Britain’s Got Talent judge addresses Piers Morgan return

Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda Holden, 48, has been a judge on the show since it first began in 2007. In the first four years of the show, she sat between current judge Simon Cowell, 58, and former panelist Piers Morgan, 54. Amanda now judges the show alongside Simon, Alesha Dixon, 40, and David Walliams, 47. She insisted she would love to see Piers back on the show, but admitted there won’t be any room.

“I personally miss him. I don’t think anyone else does,” she told The Sun.

“There’s no room because David’s quite a lump on the end so, yeah, I think he’s the off-camera, and we know that Piers doesn’t do off-camera.

“It would be more like a subs benc,h wouldn’t it, if they invited him back?”

Last year, Piers spoke out on a potential return to the show, telling OK! Magazine Simon could “no longer afford him”.

He added to the publication: “I’d be the new head judge if the money was right.

“If Simon made me an offer I couldn’t refuse I would, and frankly looking at the performance of David Walliams, that question should come sooner rather than later.”

Elsewhere, the 13th series of Britain’s Got Talent kicked off last weekend.

As well as various talented auditionees, viewers saw the return of TV duo Ant and Dec.

The latte, 43, presented the live shows alone last year following Ant’s break away from his television commitments.

Ant, 43, was involved in a car crash in Richmond, London back in March 2018 and was later convicted of drink-driving and given a 20-month driving ban and a £86,000 fine.

Discussing their return to the show, Amanda admitted Dec had been “vulnerable” presenting solo last series.

She added to the publication: “Dec did a sterling job on his own, obviously, and having Holly Willoughby by his side on I’m A Celebrity was also terrific.

“But it made him feel hugely vulnerable. It’s one of those moments when he probably had to find his own feet, which he’s never had to do before because he always had someone next to him.

“It’s really hard to work on your own.”

Ant recently spoke out about reuniting with Dec, telling Irish Times: “I always wanted to be back with my friend.

“We love each other. So everything else goes out of the window.

“You want to laugh again. You want to enjoy your time together.”
