Game of Thrones wouldn’t be the same without the Lannister family and much to the joy, or despair, of fans, a number of them will return when season eight kicks off on Sunday, April 14. The likes of Jaime Lannister (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey), and Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) will all be back in Westeros when the final series of Game of Thrones gets underway around the world. But how are all the Lannisters related? Here’s the Lannister family tree explained.
How are the Lannisters related on Game of Thrones?

Tywin Lannister
Game of Thrones oldest and, in many ways, wisest Lannister family member is Tywin Lannister (Charles Dance)
Tywin is introduced in the very first season of Game of Thrones and stars throughout until he’s killed in season four.
HBO viewers watched Tywin, ultimately, control Westeros through his grandson King Joffrey Baratheon (Jack Gleeson), making key decisions under the guise of passing them off as Joffrey’s ideas.
Tywin is the father to Cersei, Jaime, and Tyrion and the son of Tytos Lannister.
Dance’s character has a brother, Kevan (Ian Gelder), who appears in a dozen or so episodes.
Cersei mothered three children: Joffrey, Myrcella (Nell Tiger Free) and Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman).
All three of Cersei’s children were, therefore, Tywin Lannister’s grandchildren.

Cersei Lannister
Cersei is, as aforementioned, the daughter of Tywin Lannister and her late mother Joanna Lannister.
She has two siblings, Tyrion and Jaime, and struck up a particularly close relationship with one of her brothers.
Jaime is Cersei’s twin brother-turned-lover throughout Game of Thrones, with the siblings sleeping together on many occasions.
In fact, it’s revealed that Cersei’s children aren’t those of her late husband Robert Baratheon (Mark Addy) but of her brother Jaime.
Sadly for Cersei, all three of her children have died ahead of season eight.
Cersei holds a toxic level of resentment towards her other brother Tyrion, holding him to blame for the death of their mother.
Joanna died during childbirth with Tyrion and The Imp has never lived to forget it.
Cersei’s extended family consists of three cousins, Kevan’s children, who are: Martyn Lannister, Willem Lannister, and Lancel Lannister (Eugene Simon).

Jaime Lannister
Jaime is Tywin and Joanna’s eldest son and twin brother to Cersei.
Unknown to most of the Westeros population, Jaime was the father to Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen.
He’s also the older brother to Tyrion and, instead of holding a grudge against his sibling, has a much stronger bond with him than Cersei does.
Similarly to Cersei, Jaime is the cousin to Lancel, Willem, and Martyn as well.
He’s also the nephew of Kevan and grandson to Tytos.

Tyrion Lannister
Another surviving Lannister who’ll return in season eight is Tyrion.
As mentioned before, he’s the younger brother to his older twin siblings Cersei and Jaime.
He also serves as uncle to their three children: Joffrey, Myrcella, and Tommen.
While he’s also Tywin’s son, it’s safe to say he wasn’t treated anywhere near the same as his brother and sister.
In fact, Tywin sentenced Tyrion to death for the murder of Joffrey, which resulted in Dinklage’s character taking measures into his own hands.
Tyrion killed his own father with a crossbow and fled King’s Landing.
He’s also the nephew of Kevan, the grandson of Tytos and the cousin of Lancel, Willem, and Martyn.
Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on Sunday, April 14 on HBO in the USA, and on Monday, April 15 on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
