Kit Harington: ‘We’ve mucked it up!’ Game of Thrones’ Jon Snow star on season 8 anguish

Kit Harington said he has has been waking up in the middle of the night, thinking “we’ve mucked it up” when it comes to Game of Thrones season 8. The actor, who has played Jon Snow since 2011, said it is both “really exciting” as well as stressful as the pressure mounts. The 32-year-old said he revealed exactly how the drama ended to a friend who “couldn’t have looked less interested” and fell asleep when he first tuned in years ago. Speaking on tonight’s The Graham Norton Show, he spoke candidly about his life changing as well as his role coming to an end.

“They have really upped the budget and gone to town – it is really exciting,” Kit started.

However, he stated: “There are some incredible sequences, but I’ve woken up in the middle of the night recently thinking, ‘What if, after eight seasons, we’ve mucked it up!’”

The small screen favourite said it was “so hard” being unable to tell people anything when such a big part of his life was concluded.

He continued: “It got too much, so I’ve told one person – my friend James, who doesn’t watch the show and fell asleep in the first episode of the very first season.

“I knew then that he was zero interested in what I do. We were having a drink the other night and I told him everything about how the series ends, and he couldn’t have looked less interested if he tried!”

Kit said he was “determined to be cool about the end”, but an unexpected source brought out tears.

He recalled: “[I] decided that when people came up to me and said, ‘Are you Jon Snow?’ that I would say very calmly, ‘I used to be.’

“When I left the set for the final time I was very emotional, and when a girl came up to me and asked the inevitable question, I broke down and cried, ‘I used to be!’

“She backed off pretty quickly!”

During the interview, Kit went on to speak about the highly-anticipated scenes, which took 55 consecutive night to shoot.

“I’m not sure I should tell you about it, but it was so intense we were all on the edge of killing each other,” he added.

Kit was joined on the sofa by Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Juliannne Moore while Tom Walker performed live.

The former were on the chat show to discuss Avengers: Endgame, and how they also were unable to discuss plot lines.

On how he managed it, Thor favourite Chris quipped: “I am good at forgetting stuff, which helps.”

The Graham Norton Show airs tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One.

Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on HBO in the US on Sunday and on Sky Atlantic in the UK on Monday.
