The Victim season 2: Will there be another series of The Victim on BBC One?

The Victim has gripped millions of viewers up and down the UK thanks to the flawless performances from the cast and gripping storyline. BBC One’s hit crime drama has proved such a hit, many viewers are calling for another series of The Victim to be given the green light. Here’s all there is to know so far about The Victim season two and whether or not there will be another series.

Will there be another series of The Victim on BBC One?

The Victim season two is yet to be given the go-ahead by the BBC or production company STV Productions.

Season two will likely depend on how tonight’s fourth and final episode ends and if there’s scope for another series.

BBC One will air the final episode of The Victim from 9pm on Thursday, April 11 and promises viewers will find out the truth about Eddie J Turner.

In a tweet on the day of the final episode, BBC One said: “It’s time for Anna to discover her fate – and the truth.

“Don’t miss the gripping conclusion of #TheVictim. Tonight at 9pm on @BBCOne and @BBCiPlayer.”

IS THE VICTIM BASED ON A TRUE STORY?

Despite the lack of news regarding The Victim’s renewal so far, many fans have voiced their desire for another series to go ahead.

One The Victim viewer tweeted: “Any chance we don’t find out who Eddie is and The Victim will be back for a second series? Yes please.”

A second agreed: “So much potential content in this drama with all the different characters. It could be a long-running series.”

While a third said: “#TheVictim loving this series – it is absolutely gripping! So pleased to hear that there might be more made…”

Express.co.uk has contacted STV Productions for comment regarding season two.

WHERE IS THE VICTIM FILMED?

Should The Victim return, there are no real clues suggesting when it could be back.

The BBC typically leave about a year between the release of its recurring series.

The Victim season two may, therefore, be on the air from April 2020, if renewed.

Whether all the actors from The Victim cast could return will depend highly on tonight’s final episode of the series.

Kelly MacDonald has impressed in her role as grieving mother Anna Dean in The Victim.

WHAT HAPPENED IN EPISODE 3 OF THE VICTIM?

MacDonald starred opposite James Harkness, who played Craig Myers, the man accused of being the child murderer Eddie J Turner.

Harkness has also left viewers gripped with his performances as fans continue to guess whether or not he really is Eddie J Turner.

BAFTA-nominee John Hannah, along with MacDonald and Harkness, starred in every episode of The Victim to date as Steven Grover, so he may be back.

Former Game of Thrones star Jamie Sives may also return in season two as Lenny Dean, as may Andrew Rothney as Danny Callaghan.

Other actors who could reprise their roles if another series of The Victim goes ahead include Isis Hainsworth as Louise Graham, Georgie Glen as the Judge, Karla Crome as Rebecca Myers, and Chloe Pirrie as Lawyer Ella Mackie.

The Victim concludes on BBC One tonight at 9pm.
