Avengers Endgame shock: Russos reveal WHY they killed Star-Lord at Avengers 4 fan event

Stars Scarlett Johanson, Chris Hemsworth and Paul Rudd were joined on stage by Joe and Anthony Russo at a special fan event in central London this evening. Just 500 lucky Marvel fans packed out a cinema and were treated to an incredible eight-minute preview of the movie. The screaming crowd cheered their idols and also had the opportunity to ask some questions. Anthony Russo warned they could not answer any plot-related probes about Endgame, but made a shocking confession about Infinity War.

The Russos told the crowd to brace themselves for Avengers 4, admitting “We cry watching it.”

They also warned that it really was the end of the road for six major characters: “This is it. The reason we called it Endgame. The story of the six original Avengers comes to a close in this movie.”

Of course, the directors and stars were very careful to avoid any spoilers and much of the evening entertained the crowd with banter and fun Avengers Quiz held on stage.

At one point, Anthony Russo burst out: “That’s’ actually why we killed a Chris.” But what was his reason?

It was part of a jokey segment when the directors were asked if it was confusing having three stars called Chris.

Hemsworth immediately riffed on the problems that kept happening, like when Chris Evans would hear a direction meant for Hemsworth and pick up Thor’s axe and so on.

Anthony Russo cleverly jumped in and said they killed off Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord just to make things simpler on set.

Hemsworth did get more serious, though, when he told the crowd what was the motivation for the actors in Endgame, based on what their characters were dealing with.

The Aussie star said: There is a sense of survivor’s guilty but also a new push to right the wrongs. It’s their last shot.

“You’re gonna see someting special and unique.”
