A Place In The Sun presenter marks BIG behind-the-scenes moment: ‘I was nervous’

Jonnie Irwin, 45, took to Instagram earlier this month to document his trip to film A Place In The Sun on location with his family. Sharing the experience with his 5,400 followers, the presenter explained his decision to take his three-month-old baby son Rex and wife Jessica Holmes along for the first time. Speaking in a video, he admitted that although he missed his nearest and dearest when travelling away from home for work, he was initially concerned about how Rex would react to the flight. While cradling his son in his arms at Barcelona airport, the host explained: “This has been our first voyage, I got a bit tired of going away and leaving my family at home,

“So I thought I’d bring them with me for A Place In The Sun this week.”

However, the TV personality revealed that the monumental moment didn’t get off to the best of starts, as confusion ensued over the clocks changing.

He divulged: “We got up at 3.30am, only to realise that the clocks had gone forward, making that 2.30.

“And Rex had very kindly decided that he wanted to be up every hour because he was so excited about being on holiday.”

Fortunately, in spite of Jonnie’s exhaustion, he praised his son for how well he handled their travels.

Describing Rex as “an absolute legend on the plane”, the star revealed that he was relieved that the journey took place without incident.

Jonnie added: “I was quite nervous about bringing my family away with me and the baby on a flight.

“A lot of people have nightmares, but he’s three-months old and it was dead easy.”

The father-of-one then took the opportunity to reassure his followers about the positive aspects of taking babies on holiday, which is often daunting for new parents.

He enthused: “If you’re thinking about going abroad, get it done quick because we’re hopefully gonna have a great trip together.

“I’ll be away in the day time, but it’s just nice to have everyone all around me for once.”

Jonnie then went on to share his filming plans for the Channel 4 show.

He told fans: “We’re going south to Tortosa, which I’ve never been to before and it’s apparently genuine Spain.

“I’ll be posting some photos of what we’re showing and what you can get for your money around there.”

Alongside pictures of Spanish properties, Jonnie shared some adorable snaps of Rex taking part in another milestone moment on the social media platform.

He posted an image of a particularly sweet father and son experience that the two shared behind-the-scenes.

Rex was even pictured wearing a bib with the show’s logo on it, as he was given a tour around set.

Jonnie jokingly captioned the post: “On location and suitably attired- Rex definitely got the memo. #onlocation #spain #onset #family.”

A Place In The Sun airs on Channel 4 at 3pm.
