The One Show Alex Jones, 42, and her co-star Matt Baker, 41, discussed the BBC show with the series’ lead actors Kelly Macdonald, 43, and John Hannah, 56. Alex briefly explained to viewers what had happened in the first episode, which saw a mother (Kelly) of a murdered child accused of illegally identifying a suspected killer online. Kelly and John then spoke out as to why they were gripped by the script. John said: “It was just so powerful. Although it’s set in the legal world, my character is not just about being a cop. It’s a human drama.”
Alex then said: “You two are in lots of scenes together, and the title The Victim is clever.
“Your [Kelly’s] character Anna, has been a victim, she’s the bereaved mother of a little boy but now we don’t know,” she then rhetorically asked: “Has she done a crime?”
Matt looked at Alex puzzled, prompting the latter to question what she had just said.
She turned to Matt and asked him: “Is that the deal?”
Laughing, Matt replied: “I don’t know where you’re going with this Al,” prompting the guests to laugh.
John giggled: “I think we know what you mean.”
Swiftly moving on, Alex giggled telling viewers: “Anyway, it’s a four-parter and it started last night.
“It’s on every night until Thursday.”
The host struggled to contain her laughter as she attempted to continue her conversation.
She added: “And if anyone missed the first episode yesterday, this pair here go head to head.”
Alex is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Charlie Thomson.
The pair are also parents to two-year-old son Teddy.
The presenter announced the news during an episode of the show back in December.
Before going off air, she gave viewers a side view of her growing bump to the camera.
She revealed: “Now I have some news! No, I haven’t been eating all the mince pies!
“There is a little baby, look! I am expecting another baby.”
