Sergio Aguero penalty: Did you see how Man City boss Pep Guardiola reacted to horror miss?

And Pep Guardiola was not impressed with his striker.

Manchester City were controversially awarded the spot kick after a VAR review.

Danny Rose was adjudged to have handled the ball giving Aguero the chance to put City ahead in the first 15 minutes.

Hugo Lloris saved the spot kick easily though as the Argentinian struck the ball tamely and not in the corner of the goal.

The camera panned to Guardiola who wasn’t looking at the penalty being taken.

The former Barcelona boss was nudged by Mikel Arteta after the miss occurred.

And Guardiola looked frustrated at the fact Aguero missed the glorious opportunity early in the Champions League quarter-final first leg.

Tottenham will believe justice was done as the players clearly felt it was harsh for the penalty to be awarded in the first place.

BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton admitted his surprise at Aguero missing the penalty.

He said: “I’ve talked about Lloris this season not being at his best, but how big could this be?

“It was a nice height for the keeper but a big save.

“When you think the form Aguero is in this season – he was a certainty, wasn’t he…?”

Aguero has been in stunning form this season, netting 29 times in all competitions.

But he lacked his usual conviction from the penalty spot against Tottenham and Guardiola couldn’t hide his frustration.

The second leg of the Champions League quarter-final takes place at the Etihad next Wednesday.
