Emmerdale cast: ‘So painful’ Harriet Finch star Katherine Dow Blyton asks fans for advice

Emmerdale actress Katherine Dow Blyton, 54, told her 23,000 followers her dog had been diagnosed with Kennel Cough and asked them for any tips to make him better. She shared a series of pictures of her pooch; one which saw him snuggled up in a blanket looking unwell. The soap favourite told her followers: “My poor boy has been diagnosed with Kennel Cough. “It sounds so painful and he’s been coughing all night. Any advise on how I help him feel better please? He has anti-inflammatory meds.”

Many of her social media fans flocked to her post to send their well wishes and dish out some tips.

One user commented: “Awww sending hugs to him, and you.

“I’m absolutely sure he’ll get lots of comfort knowing his beloved Mum is with him, looking after him.”

A second wrote: “Aww poor baby. Hope he’s feeling better soon.”

A third penned: ‘Best thing to give him is honey it works a treat.”

Kennel Cough, which is medically known as Infectious Tracheobronchitis, is “a canine respiratory infection caused by Bordetella bronchiseptica and canine parainfluenza virus,” according to Pet Health network.

They added treatment for the infection is dependent on the symptoms and oral antibiotics are given in “more serious cases”.

The website also stated “most cases resolve within 7-14 days”.

After being inundated with messages from her fans, Katherine added: “Thank you all so much for your advice and ‘get well wishes’ much appreciated.”

Elsewhere this week, Katherine’s alter ego Harriet faces more fear on the farm as she begins receiving terrifying calls from a prankster.

When out in the village later, she hears the church bells ringing and goes to investigate the noise.

The actress soon gets a fright when the heavy building doors slam behind her, leaving her trapped inside the chapel alone.

Spoiler pictures show Harriet banging on the wooden doors in a plea for help.

Katherine recently hinted the culprit could be somebody she had arrested when she worked as a police officer.

She added: “As these things continue happening, that’s got to be in Harriet’s mind.

“Somebody she’s arrested or she’s had dealings with when she was a police officer. I mean, not necessarily, people get stalked and victimised for many different reasons.

“I think it’s all a bit up in the air and she can’t really pin down who it might be, so she’s getting very nervous about being on her own in the village.”

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
