Boxing news: Tyson Fury showed he will beat Anthony Joshua in Deontay Wilder bout – Hamed

That is the opinion of Prince Naseem Hamed.

Tyson Fury has received criticism for his next fight against little-known heavyweight Tom Schwarz.

It is the first of five fights The Gypsy King will have on ESPN, after signing an £80m deal with Top Rank in February.

Boxing fans hoped for a re-run against Wilder following their dramatic encounter on December 1 during which Fury recovered from a brutal 12th-round knockdown, but his lucrative contract shelved the rematch.

Nevertheless, hopes of a mega-fight with the WBC champion or Joshua live on, with all three members of the heavyweight monarchy expected to trade blows in the next two years.

Joshua occupies the three recognised belts Fury held before a 34-month hiatus from the ring, but the ‘lineal heavyweight champion’ will win them back if he gets the chance, in the opinion of Hamed.

“In my eyes, Tyson Fury has proved himself in an amazing fashion,” the former featherweight world champion told iFL TV.

“He’s gone over to the States and proven that he is world class.

“I haven’t seen any heavyweight do what he did, in terms of his comeback, in a very long time.

“He showed his heart, he showed his skill, he showed his strengths, he showed his willpower.

“Now I want to see him go on and show how good he is, because I don’t think we’ve seen it all yet. I want to see him against Anthony Joshua.

“I don’t think there’s a heavyweight right now that [can deal with] how awkward Tyson is and the way he fights.

“I find it hard to see anybody beating Tyson. Simply because he showed [his ability] against Deontay Wilder – one of the hardest hitting men in the division.

“He won that fight clearly. Getting knocked down and getting up the way he did sealed it, for me.

“And that’s why I feel the same with regards to Anthony Joshua. He’s proved he is the best heavyweight alive today.”
