Game of Thrones season 8: Brienne of Tarth star 'startled' by SHOCK death?

The actress has spoken about the moment she received the scripts and how she was repulsed by the Game of Thrones season eight finale.

It is looking likely that her character may not survive the Battle of Winterfell in the HBO show’s finale.

She said on Good Morning America: “I was doing some work in Canada, and I woke up at 4 am, checked my e-mail because I heard the scripts might be coming through, and they dropped in.

“I sat there, and I read them all the way through from the start to the end. And it was a real emotional roller coaster, because things happened that deeply startled me, upset me. I went bright red in the face.

“I had to put them down. I was sort of walking around. I had to go out for a walk. It was a really extraordinary experience, and I realised they had pulled out all the stops for this one.”

What “startled” her so much to provoke such a reaction? Could she potentially suffer a violent death that has shocked the actress?

One way she could end up dead in the series finale is through a potential romance with Jaime Lannister (played by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

The pair fell in love when imprisoned together in season three and with Jaime heading North in the season seven finale, a potential reunion looks more likely.

Jaime has abandoned his sister-lover Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) to head North and now that Cersei has lost her brother-lover, children and potentially her crown, could she seek revenge on Brienne for stealing Jaime?

Gwendoline has teased the scenes left her “bright red in the face”, so this could be because of Cersei and Jaime’s incestuous relationship.

She is also not the first actress to admit to having to go for a walk to clear their heads after reading the scripts.

Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen, also admitted to having to clear her head after the scripts: “I mean, I got three words in before I just completely broke down.

“You just hold it in and you’re holding it in and you’re holding it in, and then I just burst into tears like a complete idiot.”

The mother of dragons star has already admitted after reading the final scripts she was inconsolable and had walked around London for hours.

The star, who has spent 10 years in the role said: “It might as well have been raining and I would’ve just walked in it not knowing what to do.

Even when she got home Emilia admitted she could not shake herself out of it, joking: “I was kind of nursing a glass of wine going, ‘I don’t know why I’m not getting any happier from this.’”

It appears the scripts have that affect on the cast and may indicate which characters are to die in the series finale.

Does Gwendoline’s admission of her uncontrollable emotions mean her character will die like it is rumoured may happen to Daenerys?

Fans will have to wait just one week to find out what happens to Brienne and if the actress has every right to fear for her character’s life.

Game of Thrones season eight premieres on April 14 on HBO and Sky Atlantic and on NOW TV on April 15.
