Shazam end-credits scene: Will Mark Strong return as the villain in Shazam 2?

Shazam is out in cinemas today, and follows the story of 14-year-old Billy Batson. In Billy’s case, all he needs to do is shout out one word to transform into the adult superhero Shazam. As Shazam, he’ll need to master them quickly before the evil Dr Thaddeus Sivana can get his hands on Shazam’s magical abilities.

Will Mark Strong return as Dr Sivana in Shazam 2?

Though Shazam 2 has not been confirmed, a sequel looks likely.

So far, Shazam has performed exceptionally with critics, including with Express.co.uk.

Besides which, the mid-credits scene reveals the direction a sequel may go.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for the Shazam movie.

By the end of the movie, Dr Sivana was defeated by Shazam.

The mid-credits scene revealed the now thwarted villain in a jail cell.

As he scrawls the ancient symbols of the wizards on the wall, a voice called out to him.

“Primitive simples,” the voice said. “You walking, talking monkeys with your cave drawings.”

He continues: “You assume there’s only one way to gain magic. No, no, no. There are more ways than a mind can imagine.”

When Sivana saw who spoke he discovered it was a worm, and he said: “What in God’s name?”

“I name the gods, doctor, not the other way around,” the worm said.

“Oh what fun we’re going to have together. The seven realms are about to be ours.”

So, based on the scene it seems likely Dr Sivana will be busted out of jail by Mister Mind, the worm from Venus.

In Black Adam’s DC Comics book origin story, Sivana helps to resurrect Black Adam.

Black Adam has his own origin story movie coming out imminently and will be played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

So Shazam’s post-credits scene could hint towards a future film in which Sivana and Black Adam go up against Shazam.

Or it could hint towards what may come to pass in Shazam 2.

Only time will tell.

Shazam is now playing in cinemas.
