NBA news: Zion Williamson sends message that New York Knicks fans will LOVE

Duke University sensation Williamson, who has set the college basketball scene ablaze this year with his dynamic two-way play, is almost certain to be picked first overall in the draft.

While there are no certainties over who will receive the first pick in the draft, the Knicks will have a four-in-one chance of taking the No 1 pick.

It is likely the Knicks will finish bottom of the Eastern Conference, thus securing their place in the draft lottery.

The four teams with the worst records will receive a 14 per-cent chance at the first pick in the draft lottery.

With an expected summer rebuild coming, the Knicks could use having the top pick, as they recently traded Kristaps Porzingis to free up salary cap space.

They are rumoured to be preparing a run on Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant, both of whom will be free agents in the summer and are reported to be interested in teaming up together in Madison Square Garden.

And the 18-year-old star admitted that he would enjoy playing for the Knicks.

“Yes, if they draft me,” Williamson told ESPN when asked if he would like to play in New York.

“I would love to play for them.

“Whatever NBA team I land on, that’s where I want to be.

“Whoever drafts me, that’s where I want to be.”

Williamson was named the US Basketball Writers Association Player of the Year after an incredible year for Duke.

However, their season was cut short last weekend as they missed out on making the NCAA March Madness Final Four.

Duke were defeated 68-67 by Michigan State at the Elite Eight stage of the tournament.

And Williamson admitted there were mixed emotions about collecting the award.

“I wish I was here under different circumstances, but I mean, you win some, you lose some, so you just got to move on,” he continued.

“So congrats to Michigan State, I wish them the best of luck.”
