Britain’s Got Talent 2019: Ant McPartlin in tears as schoolgirl tells him 'I've missed you

Britain’s Got Talent’s very first episode of the new series will air on ITV tomorrow evening, and viewers are guaranteed to be emotional when they witness the return of the presenter – one half of star duo Ant and Dec.

The moment in question came after Flakefleet Primary School’s choir took to the stage, accompanied by their Headteacher, who’s also called Mr. McPartlin.

They sang and danced to Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now and it had the audience, and most of the judges, in tears.

After their performance, the children all went backstage, and host Ant was holding one of the schoolchildren, who proceeded to tell him: “I’ve missed you.”

Her words brought tears to his eyes, and he replied: “I’ve missed you too.”

He then gave her a big hug and told her: “Come on then. You’ve got to let go now.”

“You’ve got to go. You’ve got to go through,” the Geordie star commanded through a giggle.

She then gave him another hug and said: “Bye-bye.”

“Oh. Bye-bye,” Ant replied while struggling to hold back more tears.

“Love you lots,” he finished, and the schoolgirl added: “See you soon.”

“Yes, see you soon,” Ant told the girl, and he put her back down.

Ant then laughed, and Dec could be heard in the background saying: “Aaaw,” after he was moved by the scene.

The heartwarming scenes came after Alesha Dixon spilled juicy details about the hit ITV programme, revealing the producers have switched things up this series and insisting it would be the “best show”.

Raving about the first instalment, which kicks off this Saturday, the 40-year-old presenter said fans of the programme were “in for a treat this year”.

“It feels like we’re spoilt this year, we’re in for the best show,” she enthused.

“I’m so glad we’re back at the Apollo, everyone was complaining last year because we couldn’t all fit backstage.

“But do you know what? It was worth it because the atmosphere in the theatre compared to a studio is next level.”

She concluded: “It took it up a notch, Simon made the right call on that. Sometimes he’s right, which is annoying!”

The mother-of-one will be sitting on the judging panel alongside Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Simon Cowell.

Britain’s Got Talent starts this Saturday at 7:15pm on ITV.
