Avengers 4 Endgame runtime has been CUT: What did they take OUT?

Avengers Endgame will be the longest Marvel MCU film of all time. Hardly surprising, when it needs to clean up the mess left after Thanos and his Snap erased half of all life across the universe. However, there are also rumours that something even worse may be on the way. As that isn’t enough to deal with, the movie also needs to lay the groundwork for the entire next MCU Phase. And yet, yesterday it was confirmed the movie will have a shorter runtime than previously reported.

The MARVEL film was originally expected to have a total runtime of three hours and two minutes, including end credits.

The new official runtime is three hours and 58 seconds.

The cut of one minute doesn’t sound like much but is plenty of time for a short scene or a mid/end credit scene. In a new interview with ComicBook.com today the Russos revealed how they did it.

Joe Russo said: “I think it’s three hours and fifty eight seconds. We just sped up the credits is what we did.”

Fans will be relieved to know nothing was cut.

The lengthy runtime has already caused one problem, meaning that cinema chains have to lose one screening a day through sheer lack of time. However, every major chain has announced they are putting the movie into extra screens to ensure there are enough screening to meet the extraordinary demand.

Just as well, since the film has already smashed one major ticket sales record on both sides of the Atlantic.

Cinema owners and ticket sites in the UK and US are reporting Avengers Endgame has smashed way past previous advance sales records set by The Force Awakens.

The movie is already tracking to take an all-time record $820million worldwide on its opening weekend, however, many analysts already suspect it may surge past that number.
