Game of Thrones season 8: Jon Snow’s chances of Iron Throne victory suffer setback?

However, the battle for the Iron Throne has some what been disrupted by the threat of the Night King (played by Vladimir Furdik).

Although, the question of who will end up sitting on the almighty seat of power still remains on the HBO series.

Many have lost their lives due to the ambitions of others and the main contenders, including Jon Snow (played by Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) and Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) won’t be going down without a fight.

Jon may not find himself sitting on the Iron Throne at the end of the final series, as Game of Thrones fans don’t appear to have a lot faith that he will, as revealed by research from YouGov.

While 31 per cent of fans want to see the King of the North end up on the coveted seat, only 22 percent think he actually will sit on the Throne.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Jon lose out considering fans have frequently seen their favourite characters slain.

Or, he might survive but someone else could take power.

Perhaps viewers will see Jon sitting aside Daenerys Targaryen if she manages to win the Battle of Winterfell.

The Mother of Dragons wound up in second place according to the results as 21 percent said they wanted her to win the Game of Thrones.

However, unlike Jon, the same amount of people thought she also would end up victorious.

She’s certainly built up an impressive army, not to mention she’s got two of her dragons on side.

Sadly she lost her third dragon, Viserion, to the Night King in the seventh series.

When she flew over Beyond the Wall to rescue Jon and the others who had gone to capture a wight, the Night King speared the beast from the skies.

He then resurrected Viserion as a wight so he how has an undead dragon in his arsenal.

The dragon was last seen knocking down the Wall as the army made its way down south.

A recent trailer for the final run of the fantasy epic certainly hinted as a rather grim fate for the major characters.

Items belonging to key players including Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) as well as Jon and Daenerys were seen partially buried in snow.

Could it point to the ultimate victory of the Night King?

Viewers don’t have long to wait to find out as the new series begins next Sunday in the US on HBO.

Game of Thrones season 8 premiere on Sunday, April on HBO and Monday, April 15 on Sky Atlantic.
