ORIGINAL STORY: BT mobile customers appear to be suffering from a major outage this morning which seems to be affecting access to the 4G data network.

The issues began at around 7:15am with hundreds of complaints from customers trying to use the web via their smartphone.

Down Detector, which monitors social mentions across the web, is showing hundreds of reports across the UK.

Areas including London, Manchester, Liverpool, Nottingham and Birmingham have all been hit according to Down Detector’s map.

There are also plenty of reports across social media with one user saying: “Anyone else’s 4G not working?”

Whilst another added: “I can make calls and send texts but my mobile data is not working.”

BT has now confirmed the outage and says that it is working on a fix.

In a statement to Express.co.uk as BT spokesperson said: “We’re working to fix a technical issue affecting some data services for some of our customers.

“The vast majority of our customers are able to connect as normal, but we expect to have this issue fixed soon and apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.”
