Vikings season 6 spoilers: Bjorn's story set to jump forward FOUR years?

Vikings is due to return this year to showcase the final journey of Ivar the Boneless (played by Alex Høgh Andersen) and the ongoing war against his brother Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig).

And as things begin to hot up for the final season, many new hints have been dropped by History in the run-up slowly draws to an end.

While rumours of a time-jump swirl ahead of the sixth season, fans of the show have been theorising exactly how long the jump will be.

Many viewers on Reddit have been carefully considering this and have since explained their theories online, with one writing: “My guess would be around three-to-four years.

“And maybe it might come straight away in the first episode or maybe in the second? A bit like season two?”

The details of a time-jump follow a supposedly leaked image which seems to show off a funeral pyre being sent into the ocean.

And as fans of the show have begun looking into this image further, it seems the funeral could be for the shield maiden Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick).

This is where some fans believe the time-jump will occur, as another wrote on the forum: “I’m thinking there will be a time jump of some kind after Lag’s death possibly.

“Enough to have each character set up in their new place. Bjorn being Kattegats king, Ivar in the Rus palace etc – setting up the pieces in a sense.”

However one viewer pointed out: “Well we already saw a time jump at the end of season five.”

But another viewer added: “All I know is that it seems the first episode picks up straight after [season five episode 20].”

Although nothing has officially been announced about if the show will see a time-jump – or even when it will be released – fans are certainly expecting every outcome.

Recently Ivar actor Alex posted an image of himself during the production of the final season.

And the usually clean-shaved warrior could be seen with a brand new beard and long, unkempt hair.

Although certainly a different look for the warrior, he doesn’t look healthy – could it be the beginning of Ivar’s downfall?

Or could it simply be a look into Ivar’s future after the war has finally been concluded?

While Ivar is a more ferocious warrior than Bjorn, fans of the franchise and history connoisseurs will know Bjorn eventually go on to become king.

Does this image hint at the History show going another direction?

Otherwise, it may mean Bjorn spares his brother in the upcoming war as a final gesture of good will.

Vikings season 6 is due to arrive on History and Amazon Prime Video later on this year.
