Rachel Riley Twitter: 'I was mortified' Countdown star squirms over 'embarrassing’ moment

Rachel Riley, 33, featured in a video for Cervical Screening’s Save Lives where she opened up on an hilarious memory.

Talking to the camera, the Countdown star revealed she once gave a woman in wardrobe her pair of trousers, which still contained her briefs.

She spilled: “My most embarrassing moment was when I was working on a TV show, the wardrobe lady asked for what I was wearing so she could make it pristine and iron it.”

Recoiling at the memory, she squirmed: “I had accidentally left an old pair of pants in the trousers.

“Cervical screening is in no way as embarrassing as that.”

Talking about the moment, she divulged: “I was absolutely mortified.”

Rachel encouraged women to attend their screenings and said they are not as bad as people think.

“It can be awkward but the nurses are trained to make you feel comfortable,” she said. “They have seen it all before.”

Rachel continued: “There’s nothing you can show them that’s going to shock them.

“I had an appointment with the nurse, I was in and out within five minutes and I had peace of mind the next few years.”

Pointing out how important the screenings are, Rachel urged women to not ignore their appointment.

“Cervical screening can stop cancer before it starts so never ignore your invitation to go,” she added.

The mathematician captioned the video: “I’ve shared my most embarrassing moment in support of #CervicalScreeningSavesLives.

“Cervical screening is one of the best ways to protect yourself against cervical cancer, yet screening is at a 20 year low in England with 1 in 4 women not attending. Don’t ignore your invitation.”

Elsewhere, Rachel shared a cute snap of her mum on Mother’s Day on Sunday.

The presenter’s parent was pictured on set of Countdown, perched on a high stool next to the letter board.

Rachel was also in the snap, and showed off hear beauty as she took the selfie.

Instead of being in her usual spot on the left-hand side of the board, the TV favourite was in the front and her mum appeared to have replaced her.

Rachel told her 634,000 followers on Twitter: “Happy #MothersDay to all the mummas out there!”

The star, who is in a relationship with Strictly Come Dancing professional Pasha Kovalev, continued: “Including this one who first made me apply for Countdown – everything that’s followed is all her fault.”

She signed off with: “Love you Mum!” alongside a number of sweet emojis.
