There’s some good and bad news for Sky customers today.
First, let’s start with the good news as the TV firm has quietly rolled out a nice update which now lets customers watch TV on more devices than before.
Until now, some customers who subscribed to Sky Q were allows to register and watch live and recorded shows on up to four devices at once.
However, that’s just changed with Sky now allowing up to six tablets, smartphones or laptops to be registered on one account.
This means more family members can now tune in to Sky when away from home.
That’s a very nice update that is sure to please many customers who want to view content when they are not near their Sky box.
However, it’s not all good news for customers as prices for some services are going from today.
Sky announced the rise back in February with the increase coming into force on April 1.
Customers affected by the hike should have been informed with Sky saying in a recent message, “At Sky we aim to bring you the best possible experience with must-see entertainment and services you can rely on 24 hours a day.
“To do this, we occasionally need to review our pricing. The price change is clearly laid out below, and will show in your April bill.”
Depending on which services you subscribe to will mean a different amount will be added to your monthly bill.
For example, if you watch Sky Cinema, Sky Entertainment plus have broadband and your phone with Sky then you could face paying an extra £7 per month or £84 for the year.
It’s worth noting that not all products are increasing with Sky Sports, Sky Go, Sky Box Sets, Sky HD, Sky Voicemail, Talk International, in-contract Sky Cinema and Sky Kids keeping their current pricing.
Here’s all the new pricing
• Sky Cinema is increasing by £1 from £10 to £11 (if a customer is already in-contract, it won’t increase)
• Sky Entertainment is increasing by £2 from £20 to £22
• Sky Broadband will increase by £1, across all packages
• Sky Fibre Broadband will increase by £2 across all packages
• Sky Q Multiscreen is increasing by £1 from £12 to £13
• Sky Talk Evening and Weekends will increase by £1 from £4 to £5
• Sky Talk Anytime will increase by £2 from £8 to £10
Speaking about the price rise, a Sky spokesperson, said: “We try to keep costs down and provide greater choice for our customers to pick the package that best suits them.
“We know price increases are never welcome, but we hope customers can see that our innovation, great content and our industry leading customer service provide good value.”
