Gmail for iPhone finally receives this great Android feature

Gmail is Google’s email client that is available on desktop, smartphones and tablets.

The software is incredibly popular and is used for personal and work purposes across the globe.

New features and improvements are regularly delivered to Gmail thanks to consistent updates from Google.

However, it is worth noting when new functions are introduced, they do not always arrive on every version of Gmail at the same time.

For instance, Gmail for Android already lets users remap the function of gestures to the left and right.

Fans are able to choose whether they want their left or right swipe to archive, delete, mark, move or snooze messages.

In contrast, iPhone users previously only had the option to archive or delete emails by swiping.

Moreover, whichever option was chosen would apply to left and right swipes, meaning a function could not be assigned to each.

However, Gmail for iPhone is now being updated to bring the handy functionality.

In a blog post discussing the update, Google insisted the new tool should allow users to sort through their mailbox faster.

The American tech giant said: “You can now set up swipe actions in Gmail on iOS to do any of the following actions: Archive, Trash, Mark as read/unread, Snooze, and Move to.

“We recently announced a brand new mobile redesign for Gmail with many new productivity improvements.

“To help you get things done even more quickly, you can now customise the actions you can take when swiping on an email in Gmail on your iOS device.”

To enable the new Gmail feature, users should head to the app’s settings menu and head to “swipe actions”.

From there, users will be given the option to choose the purpose of a left and right swipe.

Google has insisted the new Gmail feature is rolling out to iPhone fans right now.

However, the Mountain View company said it could be up to 15 days before all users are able to take advantage of it thanks to its gradual delivery.
