CARDIFF 1-0 CHELSEA

48: Chelsea all over the place now as Cardiff go hunting for a quick-fire second. Still no movement from the bench – either Maurizio Sarri wants the sack or this is all part of some bizarre masterplan.

CARDIFF 1-0 CHELSEA | CAMARASA

46: Whaaaaaaat?! Entertainment everyone! And that was a goal worth waiting for.

We’ve barely been underway for 60 seconds and Cardiff midfielder Victor Camarasa has scored an absolute beauty.

Harry After whips the ball in from the right channel and Camarasa arrives with the deftest of first-time clipped finishes. Lovely goal.

CARDIFF 0-0 CHELSEA

45: A stat has flashed up which shows that Gonzalo Higuain has yet to touch the ball in Cardiff’s penalty area. Give me strength.

No changes for either side.

Twitter round-up

Mo: Sarri is basically saying to Chelsea board, sack me or how do you translate his starting lineup today and what is he always writing down.

Paul: Sarri is algorithmasising our game FOOTBALL is PASSION,HEART,ENDEAVOUR and FLAIR you can not mathmatatise the beautiful game.

Are mathmatatise and algorithmasising real words, Paul? Not a criticism – I quite like ‘em.

CARDIFF 0-0 CHELSEA

HT: After a merciful one-minute of added time, referee Craig Pawson blows his whistle. Let’s just do ourselves a favour and forget that half ever happened. Ok? Deal.

45: Late half-chance for Chelsea as Oumar Niasse, on loan from Everton, attempts to flick a header towards goal. Tough chance and did well to even make contact.

43: Just the sight of Eden Hazard, Callum Hudson-Odoi and N’Golo Kante must make the travelling Chelsea fans sick.

41: Ahh! The perfect corner routine is wasted by Marcos Alonso. Willian plays a short one-two with Pedro before drilling it low to the unmarked Marcos Alonso, who fluffs it.

You don’t really get another chance to try that in the same game. Element of surprise is gone.

38: Danger! Lee Peltier bundles Willian to the floor in a central position around 20-yards from goal.

Alonso, Willian, Barkley and Luiz are all standing over it. It’s Willian with the strike… wide. Not a bad curling effort that bounced a few yards wide of Etheridge’s left post.

37: So… anyone seen any good box-sets recently…

35: One bright spark for Chelsea has been Mateo Kovacic, who’s kept the ball moving, made runs forward and played a few good passes.

33: Just seen a replay of the Cardiff corner. It’s pretty obvious that Marcos Alonso had a tight grip of Sean Morrison’s shirt and wasn’t looking at the ball. Good argument for a penalty.

30: Temperatures rise as Cardiff win a corner. Easily the most exciting incident of the opening half-hour. Ecuele Manga trundles upfield… and swiftly trundles back after Chelsea clear.

28: If you guys have anything to be getting on with – I suggest you do it now. There’s so little going on here it’s unreal. Chelsea passing sidewards for minutes at a time and Cardiff gifting it straight back to them with aimless hoofs forward.

25: Booked! Jorginho already had a warning from referee Craig Pawson and doesn’t get a third chance. He’s shown a yellow card for dragging down Murphy.

23: Quite astonishing how easy Cardiff are finding this against top-six Chelsea. Maurizio Sarri’s side are slow, lethargic and ultimately very predictable.

I didn’t think I would ever write the followings sentence. Gonzalo Higuain is finding life tough against Sean Morrison…

20: Dull. As. Dishwater.

17: Erm… just 17 minutes in and Antonio Ruddier has tried his luck from 35-yards. Surely that’s reserved for stoppage-time only, right?

Maurizio Sarri responds to that by scribbling something down in his notebook. Something along the lines of: “Tell Antonio Rudiger that he’s a centre-back.”

14: Pedro has been shooting for fun lately. He goes for another from distance but sends it whistling over the crossbar.

Murphy responds with a slight faint inside the box that completely bamboozles Marcos Alonso and Ross Barkley. He sets himself before curling wide of the far post.

11: “Where are the updates,” I hear you shooting at me. Well they were unfortunately delayed because the WIFI decided it wanted a rest. Very helpful indeed. Don’t worry folks, we’re back now.

8: Chelsea are looking pretty good today. However, they started brightly against Everton before the international break but didn’t make their pressure count. Ruthlessness is the order of the day…

5: Ross Barkley, fresh from his England exploits, embarks on a positive run forward before seeing his effort blocked by Manga.

3: Chelsea win an early corner through Willian. The Brazilian heads over to take it himself but it’s easily dealt with.

CARDIFF 0-0 CHELSEA

1: Hello everyone, sorry I’m late but I’ve just witnessed the most bad-tempered and dramatic Old Firm in living memory. Honestly it was crazy.

Perhaps things will be a little more orderly in Wales…

Maurizio Sarri has already stunned Chelsea supporters with his team selection – let’s see if it pays off to leave three of your best players on the bench!
