PlayStation News: Secret PS4 game unveiled as Sony scores big PSVR win

PSVR fans can look forward to a number of high-profile releases this year, as confirmed by Sony during a recent PS4 live stream event.

A range of new PS4 game projects have been kept under wraps by the tech giant and have only now been revealed for the PlayStation platform.

One of the main highlights was an exclusive PSVR Iron Man game, coming to PS4 and PS4 Pro in 2019.

Not much was revealed about the new Marvel project and its gameplay style, although it was confirmed that it has been in development for over two years and was aiming to be the next big PSVR success.

Ryan Payton, Director at Camouflaj, revealed it had been hard to keep the new Iron Man game for PS4 a secret and wouldn’t be sharing much in the way of gameplay in March.

However, we did get a small teaser on the upcoming game’s story, with Payton revealing: “In Marvel’s Iron Man VR the player, who plays as the genius inventor Tony Stark, confronts ghosts from his past — powerful forces who seek to ruin him and everything he stands for.

“By fully embracing the magic of PlayStation VR, players will come face-to-face with iconic allies and Super Villains as they jet around the globe on a heroic mission to save not only Stark Industries, but the world itself.

“We cannot wait to share more about how we are telling an original Iron Man story in a way that only virtual reality allows.

“We have so much to reveal about the game and many fun development stories to tell, but we’ll save that for another day.

“Today, we are excited to celebrate with you that an authentic, fully-featured Iron Man VR game is on the way! Everyone at Camouflaj, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Marvel Games are hard at work on delivering a game that is truly worthy of the Armored Avenger.”

Having a new Iron Man VR game exclusive to PlayStation VR is good news for Sony and so is the latest updates concerning sales of the headset.

It was recently announced by the company that over four million headsets had been sold since its launch in 2016.

And for a device that is still very much in its infancy when it comes to tech, that’s good news.

It appears Sony’s gamble to introduce VR to their PS4 gaming space has paid off, with more virtual reality announcements expected in the coming years.

“We’re also very excited to reveal that we have officially sold-through more than 4.2 million PS VR systems worldwide as of March 3, 2019,” the Sony announcement reads.

“We’d like to thank our fans for the amazing support for helping us achieve the milestone. Now without further ado, on to all the great games coming to PS VR.”

Iron Man VR is just one of a number of new games coming to PSVR which will no doubt prove popular.

Another game receiving the VR treatment is No Man’s Sky, which originally launched as a PS4 console exclusive back in 2016.

Virtual Reality comes to No Man’s Sky later this year as part of a new expansion pack which will cost nothing to download.

“Grab the joystick and thruster to fly your starship over an unexplored alien planet as you peer out of the cockpit at the view below.

“Reach into your backpack to grab your multitool, touch it to switch to terrain manipulation, and carve out intricate shapes with unprecedented control. Play in multiplayer and casually wave to your non-VR friends or fist bump your PS VR peers.

“No Man’s Sky VR is not a separate mode, but the entire game brought to life in virtual reality. Anything possible in No Man’s Sky, NEXT or any other update is ready and waiting as an immersive and enriched VR experience. No Man’s Sky VR, like all the parts of Beyond, will be free to existing players.”
