Melania Trump reveals greatest gift to give to children meeting wife of Venezuela's Guaidó

On Friday, the White House released images of Melania with Mr Guaidó’s wife Fabiana Rosales at Mar-a-Lago in South Florida. The images saw the two women smiling before rows of palm trees and posing for a selfie inside one of the rooms inside the president’s luxury private club. Comments from the first lady released by the White House confirmed the US administration’s support of the opposition leader’s government. Currently, Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro remains in power.

No reporters were allowed to witness the encounter or a trip to a local school where Mrs Rosales met with children on Thursday.

The First Lady showed her support for the Venezuelan people, including children, who are suffering amid the political and economic crisis in the country, according to the White House.

The 26-year-old wife of Mr Guaidó is a political activist who has represented her husband overseas as they seek to persuade other countries to back her husband and stand in opposition to Maduro.

During their first meeting, the two women discussed how Mrs Rosales intends to aid her people, according to a readout provided by the East Wing.

The first lady said in a statement: “I enjoyed speaking with First Lady Fabiana Rosales and learning about her goals for improving the lives of children in her country.

“Our country stands strong with the Venezuelan people.

“The greatest gift we can give our children is freedom and the Administration supports First Lady Fabiana Rosales and her husband, President Juan Guaidó, as they work to return democracy to the Venezuelan people.”

On Wednesday, Mrs Rosales had a meeting with President Donald Trump who reaffirmed his support for her husband’s bid to restore democracy in Caracas.

Mrs Rosales is currently on an international tour trying to drum up support for her husband.

She said: “Look, I am the wife of President Juan Guaidó and I will accompany him on whatever route he takes and we will overcome whatever obstacles we face as we have done through all our years together.

“But I got involved in politics because I want to change my country.

“We will not rest. We are here to save lives and to give back freedom.
